Enable Crossplay on Your Dragonwilds Server

Where the PlatformPolicy line lives in your Dragonwilds server's DedicatedServer.ini, the five values it accepts and how to check the server took one.

Updated 4 min read

RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0 added crossplay, so players on PC and consoles can share a world. Jagex's launch notes say dedicated servers got a crossplay option too. On your server it is one line in DedicatedServer.ini, which you can edit in the File Manager. This guide shows where that line is, which values it takes and how your party finds the world.

Checked against RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0.1, October 2026.

What crossplay covers

Jagex's 1.0 notes list the platforms as PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X and S, and PC on the Epic Games Store, the Jagex Launcher and Steam. The notes say crossplay worlds are shown in the world browser, and that players choose whether a world is crossplay each time they host a multiplayer world. For a dedicated server, the choice lives in the server's settings file.

Find the setting

  1. If the server has never been started, press Start once and wait for Your server is online - players can join now. in the Console. The PlatformPolicy line only appears in the file after the first start.
  2. Stop the server. The official wiki warns that changes made to DedicatedServer.ini while the server runs are lost.
  3. Open the File Manager and go to RSDragonwilds/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/.
  4. Open DedicatedServer.ini (double-click it, or select it and click Edit).
  5. Under [/Script/Dominion.DedicatedServerSettings], find the PlatformPolicy line. On a new server it reads Crossplay, the default.

The panel writes five other lines in that section from the Startup tab on every start: OwnerId, ServerName, DefaultWorldName, AdminPassword and WorldPassword. PlatformPolicy isn't one of them, and there is no crossplay field in Startup. RuneScape: Dragonwilds server settings explains the file.

Change the value

PlatformPolicy accepts five values: Crossplay (the default), PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. Type it exactly as shown, capitals included. For crossplay, leave it on Crossplay. Jagex doesn't document what the four platform names do, so we don't recommend them. In our test, PC changed the platform the server lists its world under.

  1. With the server stopped, replace the value after the equals sign. Keep the rest of the line as it is.
  2. Click Save, then press Start.
  3. Check the Console for Your server is online - players can join now.
  4. Open RSDragonwilds/Saved/Logs/RSDragonwilds.log in the File Manager and look for Dedicated server platform policy: followed by your value. How to find your server logs explains the log.

The value stays in the file after the start.

A wrong value stops the server from starting. The game's log then says the value is invalid and lists the valid ones: Crossplay, PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo. Fix the line while the server is stopped and press Start again.

Warning

The Back button in the editor closes the file and drops anything you haven't saved.

How players find a crossplay server

Everyone searches the same way: Play, then Online, then the Public tab on the Worlds screen, and type the exact world name. Jagex's 1.0.0.5 notes added a tooltip to the search bar confirming the search is case sensitive. Players can also use the Invite Code box on that screen with the code from your panel's left rail. RuneScape: Dragonwilds getting started has the details.

If a platform can't see the server

  1. Everyone on one platform is missing - check the PlatformPolicy line still reads Crossplay. If it names a platform, set it back to Crossplay with the server stopped and press Start.
  2. Versions differ - after a game update the server needs a restart to pick up the new build, and clients need the update too. Jagex's 1.0.0.8 notes say dedicated servers need a restart to apply that hotfix.
  3. Epic Games Store players can't see any server - Jagex's 1.0.1 notes fixed an issue where Epic Games Store players couldn't view dedicated servers they had joined before, so update the game.
  4. The world still isn't listed - work through Fix: Dragonwilds server missing from the public list.
