Get Ancient Civilization Cores in Palworld
Where Ancient Civilization Cores drop (bosses, Oil Rig chests, expeditions, relics) and what they craft, using what two sources agree on, v1.0.5.
Ancient Civilization Cores are a Legendary material that goes into many late-game recipes in Palworld 1.0, from the Wing Pack to the Ancient buildings. You cannot buy or craft them, so every Core comes from a boss, a chest or a recycled relic. This guide lists the sources the wiki and paldb.cc agree on, and what the Cores go into.
Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (Pocketpair's latest patch notes, 15 September 2026), October 2026.
What they are
Both sites describe the Core with the same text: "Core from technology that was lost long ago". The wiki says no merchant sells it and it cannot be crafted. paldb.cc lists no shop source and no recipe that makes it either.
Where they drop
Wild and boss Pals. Both sites list these Pals as dropping Cores at a 100% rate:
- Silvance and Dandilord, 1 Core each
- Bellanoir, Bellanoir Libero, Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord, Moon Lord and Hartalis, the raid bosses
The two sites disagree on how many Cores the raid bosses give at each difficulty, so this guide does not quote those numbers. Both sites place the Dandilord at Rotmist Root, and the wiki's World Tree page lists Rotmist Root as a fast-travel statue. The wiki says the Dandilord is an Alpha only and cannot be found in the overworld.
Oil Rig chests. The wiki says the main chest on an Oil Rig holds 1 to 5 Cores. paldb.cc lists 1 to 5 from both the Lv55 and Lv60 Oil Rig Greater Chests, at different chances. Pocketpair's 1.0 notes say the rewards in Oil Rig treasure chests were improved.
Expeditions. Both sites list Pal Expedition rewards as a source. The wiki names the Frozen Cave of Snow Mountain and higher-difficulty expeditions, and paldb.cc lists a separate reward table for the Snow, Sakurajima, Feybreak, Sunreach and World Tree expeditions.
Recycled relics. Pocketpair's 1.0 notes say the Ancient Civilization Relic is only found in the World Tree and a special device converts it into useful items. Both sites list Cores among the Ancient Relic Recycler's results. Building one is covered in How to gather World Tree resources in Palworld.
What they are used for
Both sites list these uses with the same Core count:
- Wing Pack: 10 Cores (Craft the Wing Pack)
- Ancient Relic Recycler: 20 Cores to build
- Advanced Shield: 30 Cores
The Cores also go into many Ancient buildings, so keep a few spare.
The Dandilord also drops the Toxin Filtering Membrane used in the Corrosive Mist Mask, so one trip to Rotmist Root can feed two recipes.
On your hosted server
Cores are part of the base game, so nothing needs installing. The World Settings tab has an Enemy loot rate slider in the Rates group, described as items dropped by defeated enemies. Whether it also scales chest rewards or relic recycling is not something the tab says. The full list of rates is in Palworld server settings explained.
