Move your server from PebbleHost
Copy your PebbleHost SFTP details into the Migrate tab, split the address from the port, and bring your worlds, configs and mods across.
Moving from PebbleHost takes one set of login details. Copy them from PebbleHost's game panel into the Migrate tab on your new server, and we copy your worlds, configs and mods straight across, with nothing to download or upload.
Steps checked against PebbleHost's documentation in September 2026.
Before you start
- Have your Play Your Way server ready for the same game. The files copy into it.
- Keep the PebbleHost service active. PebbleHost's documentation says a suspended service can't be reached over FTP.
- Know your PebbleHost game panel password, which is also the SFTP password. The game panel at
panel.pebblehost.comhas its own login, separate from the billing panel. Its details are in your order email (for Minecraft servers, Minecraft Server Order Details).
Find your SFTP details on PebbleHost
- Log in to the game panel at
panel.pebblehost.comand open your server. - Select Stop at the top right. PebbleHost's world guides ask for the server to stay offline while you work with world files.
- Select File Manager in the sidebar.
- Optional: select Disk usage at the top of the page to see how big your folders are. Your new server's Disk Analyser tab shows how much room it has.
- Select SFTP Details, also at the top of the page. A box opens with the Server Address and Username. It shows no password: use your game panel password.
Split the server address
PebbleHost shows the host and the port as one value, in this form:
sftp://<node>.pebblehost.com:<port>
The Migrate tab takes them in separate boxes, without sftp://:
| From PebbleHost | Into the Migrate tab |
|---|---|
Server Address, between sftp:// and the colon | Address, such as <node>.pebblehost.com |
| Server Address, the number after the colon | Port |
| Username, all of it: your email, a dot and a server code | Username |
| Your game panel password | Password |
Read the port from your own SFTP Details box instead of copying one from an example or another guide.
Connect from the Migrate tab
- In the dashboard, select Open on the server you're moving to.
- Select Migrate in the left rail.
- Set Protocol to SFTP.
- Fill in Address, Port, Username and Password from the table above. The Port box starts at
22, so replace it. - Select Connect & show my files. Your PebbleHost files appear under Tick what to copy.
What to tick from a PebbleHost server
Minecraft and Palworld servers start with the folders that matter already ticked. Other games start with everything ticked. On a PebbleHost server, also check these:
- Your files sit at the top of the list. PebbleHost's SFTP login opens in the server's own folder, so
world, pluginsand the rest show straight away. - A renamed Minecraft world isn't pre-ticked. If you changed the world name on PebbleHost's Settings page, the folder has that name instead of
world. Tick it, plus any_netherand_the_endfolders that share the name. After the copy, openserver.propertiesin the File Manager and check thatlevel-namematches the folder. - Untick
.pebblehostgameif it's there. PebbleHost's own panel uses this file on games such as Rust and ARK, and your new server doesn't need it.
From here the steps are the same for every host. Move your server from another host covers the backup, starting the copy, matching the game version and sending players the new address.
Keep a copy on your PC
The Migrate tab doesn't need this, but a copy of your own is handy before you cancel:
- In PebbleHost's File Manager, tick the folders and files you want.
- Right-click one of them, or use its ... button, and choose Download. The selection downloads as one ZIP file.
Cancel PebbleHost last
Cancel only after the copy has finished and your players have joined the new server. The Migrate tab can't copy from a PebbleHost server that is suspended or gone.
In PebbleHost's billing panel at billing.pebblehost.com, each service has a red Cancel button. The form then asks for a cancellation type:
- Immediate ends the service by the end of the day.
- End of the billing period ends it on the next due date, instead of creating a renewal invoice.
If the connection fails
The Migrate tab explains the problem in a Couldn't connect box:
- "That address doesn't exist" - the Address still includes
sftp://, or the colon and port. Enter only the host name, and put the port in Port. - "The old host rejected that username or password" - copy the whole Username, including the code after your email address, and use your PebbleHost game panel password. Check the Port isn't still
22. - "Nothing is listening on that port" or "The old host didn't answer" - check that Port holds the number from the end of the Server Address. If it does, check the PebbleHost service is active and not suspended.
If none of these match, send support the exact message from the box, the game, and roughly when you tried, with your time zone. Leave your PebbleHost password out.
Frequently asked questions
Does migrating change anything on PebbleHost?
No. The Migrate tab only reads your PebbleHost files, and nothing there is changed or deleted.
Can I move a server that isn't Minecraft?
Yes. Every game we host has the Migrate tab. Where everything starts ticked, untick the logs and the game's server software, which your new server already has.
What if PebbleHost has already suspended or cancelled my server?
The Migrate tab needs a working PebbleHost SFTP login, so sort out access with PebbleHost first. If your files are already on your PC, upload them yourself: How to manage your server files covers the browser, and Connect over SFTP with FileZilla or WinSCP covers big folders.
