Update your card and download invoices

Change the card your renewals charge, download invoice PDFs from Billing, and settle a failed payment before your server is suspended.

Updated 4 min read

You can do all of this yourself under Billing, except paying a past-due invoice that Pay now can't find, which needs a ticket. A failed renewal doesn't stop your server straight away, so there's time to pay.

Update your payment card

  1. Log in and open Billing (/dashboard/billing). The Payment method card at the top shows your current card and its expiry date.
  2. Select Update card (Add card if none is saved).
  3. Enter the new card's details in the Stripe form.
  4. Select Save card. The new card replaces the old one on the page.
Tip

An amber note appears under your saved card from 60 days before it expires, and we email you in its last 30 days. Update it then to avoid a failed renewal.

Download your invoices

  1. On Billing, scroll to Invoice history. Rows run newest first and show the amount in Australian dollars, a status badge, the invoice number and the date.
  2. Select PDF on the invoice you want (not every row has one). Stripe's copy opens in a new tab.
BadgeMeaning
PaidThe payment went through.
OpenIssued, not paid yet.
VoidCancelled, nothing owed.
UnpaidNever paid, and no longer being collected.

Pay an overdue invoice

When a renewal payment fails, the subscription shows Past due and your server keeps running for a grace period. A red "Payment needs updating" banner with the date to pay by appears at the top of the dashboard (not inside a server's panel), Billing gets a Past due pill in the menu, and we email you.

Until it's paid, Change plan and Holiday mode are missing from the Actions menu. If you'd rather stop the server than pay, see Cancel your plan or get a refund.

Use Pay now

  1. On Billing, under Subscriptions, select Actions > Pay now. The banner has the same button.
  2. Pay the outstanding invoice on Stripe's secure page. When it clears, the badge goes back to Active.

Pay now settles that one invoice, so if your saved card caused the failure, update it too.

If the button reads Update payment method instead, select it and finish checkout to restart billing for the same server.

Retry with a new card

Saving a card (steps above) retries the outstanding invoice on it at once. The note under the card then says whether the payment went through, and why if it didn't. If it failed, try another card or ask your bank.

If the grace period runs out

In the last day of the grace period, we email a final notice. When it ends, the server is suspended: it stops, the badge changes to Suspended and we email you. Suspension doesn't delete your files.

Paying by either method lifts the suspension, and we email to confirm. If the server is still offline, open it and select Start. A server in holiday mode stays paused and gets no email; Pause your server with holiday mode covers resuming it.

Note

Section 9 of the Terms of Service covers failed payments, suspension and when a suspended server may be deleted.

If the card or payment won't go through

  • "You don't have a billing account yet. Subscribe to a plan first." - buy a plan from the game pages first.
  • An error under the card form - Stripe says why it couldn't save the card. Check the details or try another card.
  • "No open invoice found - contact support and we'll sort it out." - open a Billing ticket from Support with the plan name.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a different card for each server?

Not from Billing: saving a card there moves every server onto it. A server you buy later with a different card renews on that card, and older servers keep theirs until you next select Update card.

Can I delete my saved card?

No. Update card makes a new card the default for every future renewal. The old card stays saved with Stripe, but renewals stop using it.

Do I get invoices by email?

Yes, for a new server: buying one emails a receipt for its first payment. For renewals and plan changes, download the PDF from Invoice history.

Will I be charged twice if I use Pay now and then update my card?

No. Saving a card only retries an invoice that is still open, and Pay now has already settled it.
