Link Discord to your account
Link your Discord account for a role in our server and a pre-filled email at login, and unlink it again whenever you like.
Linking Discord connects your Play Your Way account to your Discord account. In return you get a role in our Discord server and a shortcut on the login page that fills in your email. Nothing else about your account changes, and Discord does not become a way to sign in.
What linking does
- A role in our Discord server. Once the link is made, we give your Discord account a role in our server.
- A pre-filled email. On the login and signup pages, Fill my email from Discord puts your email into the box. It never signs you in. You still type your password.
The role is added to members of our Discord server, so join the server before you link. If you are not in it yet, the account link still works but there is no role to receive.
Link your account
- Sign in and open Account in the dashboard menu.
- Go to the Sign-in and security section.
- Find the Discord row and select Link Discord.
- Discord's own page opens and asks you to approve the connection. Check that you are signed in to the right Discord account, then approve it.
- You land back on Account with the note "Discord linked. Your role is on its way."
The row now shows a Linked badge. Discord's approval screen opens on its website in your browser, not in the Discord app.
Use it at login
On the login page, select Fill my email from Discord. If your Discord is linked, the email box fills in and a note says Discord recognised you. Enter your password to finish signing in. If that Discord is not linked, the page tells you so and asks you to sign in with your email and password.
Unlink it
- Open Account > Sign-in and security and find the Discord row.
- Select Unlink, then Yes, unlink to confirm.
Unlinking removes the connection and the Discord role. Nothing else about your account changes.
If linking fails
The page says "Couldn't link Discord. It may already be linked to another account." If you linked it to a second Play Your Way account, try again from the account it is linked to. Otherwise try again from Account, and contact support if it keeps failing.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need Discord to use my server?
No. Linking is optional and nothing on your servers depends on it.
Can I sign in with Discord?
No. Discord is not a sign-in method, so keep using your email and password.
Do I need to be in the Discord server?
The role is added to members of our server, so join it first. The link itself still works if you have not joined, but there is no role to receive.
