Satisfactory admin password: find or reset
Find your Satisfactory server's admin password, see what happens when it's changed in the game, and what to do if it's lost or a friend changed it.
Your Satisfactory server has two passwords, and they do different jobs. This guide shows where to find the admin password, what happens when it changes, and what to do if it goes missing.
The two passwords
- Admin password: lets someone manage the server from the game's Server Manager: change its settings, start a new world and load another one.
- Player password: lets friends join. It's optional, and it can't change anything.
Most days you only need the player password. Keep the admin password for yourself and for people you'd trust with the whole server. The rest of this guide is mostly about the admin one.
Where to find your admin password
Play Your Way makes an admin password for your server when you order it, and uses it to set the server up for you the first time it starts. Open your dashboard and press Share & passwords in the left rail. The Admin password row has Show and Copy buttons.
Enter it in the game when you open Server Manager, pick your server and it asks for a password. The getting started guide walks through adding the server for the first time.
When the admin password changes
Anyone who has the admin password can set a new one from the game. If you'd like a different password and would rather not do it yourself, contact us and we'll set one for you.
Your dashboard keeps showing the first admin password after it's changed in the game. It doesn't update itself, so write the new one down or keep it in a password manager. If you forget it, the dashboard can't tell you.
A new admin password never cuts Play Your Way off from your server. The site looks after your server through its own separate access, and a password change doesn't end that.
Change the player password
The player password lives in the same Server Settings tab of Server Manager. Next to the player password, press Change Password, then tell your friends the new one. The server settings guide covers it, along with the server's other options.
Who should have the admin password
Only people you trust to change your server's settings and load other worlds. Anyone with it can do both from their own game. Everybody else only needs the address, the port and the player password.
A friend changed it, or you've lost it
If a friend with the admin password changed it, ask them for the new one. It's the only way back in, because the dashboard still shows the old password.
If nobody remembers the new password, contact us and we'll reset it for you. Please don't try to fix it yourself by deleting files from the server.
Quick answers
- The dashboard password no longer works: someone changed it in the game. See above.
- Friends are asked for a password and don't know it: that's the player password. Share it with them, or change it in Server Settings.
- You want a new admin password: contact us and we'll set one for you.
