Satisfactory server settings

Change your Satisfactory server's autosave, daily world reload and network quality, its Startup settings, and what stays in the game's Server Manager.

Updated 5 min read

Your Satisfactory server's settings live in three places. The Server Settings tab holds the game's own server options, the Startup tab holds what the server reads each time it starts, and a few things stay in the game's Server Manager. This guide goes through each one.

Server Settings tab

The Server Settings tab holds six of the game's server options, on two cards, Saving and Server, each with its own Save changes button. The game keeps these in its own settings, which only a running server can read, so start the server before you open the tab.

SettingWhat it doesDefault
AutosaveHow often the server saves the world while someone is on: every 5, 10, 15 or 30 minutes. A save can make a big factory hitch for a moment, so a longer gap is smoother but loses more if something goes wrong.Every 5 minutes
Save when a player leavesSaves the world each time someone leaves, so nothing they built is lost.On
Network qualityHow much the server sends each player: Low, Medium, High or Ultra. Higher is smoother around big factories and uses more of the server's CPU.Medium
Daily world reloadThe time each day the server saves and reloads the world, below.Midnight UTC
Pause when nobody is onThe world stops while the server is empty, so generators burn no fuel and nothing changes while you're away.On
Seasonal eventsFICSMAS and the game's other events at their time of year.On

These are the same options the game's Server Manager shows, so a change made in either place shows in the other.

When a change applies

Most options apply the moment you save. Network quality and Seasonal events wait until the world loads again: restart the server, or load a save in the Saves tab. Until then the tab shows the value you picked.

The daily world reload

Once a day the server saves your world and loads it again, inside the running server. It isn't a restart: the server stays online, your dashboard shows no stop, and the save it makes is marked (daily reload) in the Saves tab.

The game's default is midnight UTC, which is 11 am in Sydney during daylight saving and 10 am the rest of the year. Daily world reload lists each hour of the day in your own time zone, with the game's default marked. Pick an hour when nobody plays.

Startup tab

The Startup tab holds what the server reads each time it starts, so save your change, then restart the server.

SettingWhat it does
Max PlayersHow many players can be on at once, from 1 to 64. The default is 4, the game's own, and what Satisfactory is tuned for. More players work, but each one adds load, so a bigger group is happiest on a bigger plan. Your plan doesn't cap it.
Rotating AutosavesHow many autosaves the server keeps for each world before it overwrites the oldest, from 1 to 20. The default is 3. Raise it to reach further back when you roll back.
Game BranchLeave it empty for the normal game, or set it to experimental for the Experimental branch. Everyone who joins then needs Experimental too. Make a backup first: a world saved on Experimental may not load on the normal game.
Initial Connection TimeoutSeconds a joining player has to finish connecting. The default is 30. Raise it if players with slow connections time out joining a big factory.
Connection TimeoutSeconds without traffic before a connected player is dropped. The default is 20.
Auto UpdateOff (0) checks Steam on every start and only downloads when there is a new build. On (1) runs the full Steam update on every start, which is slower. Leave it off.

The Players tab shows who's on right now. Your server's admin password is made for you at setup and shown in the left rail of your dashboard as Admin password.

What stays in the game's Server Manager

A few things are the game's own and stay in its Server Manager. Launch Satisfactory, choose Server Manager from the main menu, pick your server and enter your Admin password.

SettingWhere to find it
Player passwordThe Server Manager's Server Settings. Set one to stop strangers joining: friends then enter it when they join. Your dashboard doesn't set one.
Server nameThe name the game shows for your server. Play Your Way sets it to your server's name the first time it starts. Change it in the Server Manager's Server Settings after that.
Advanced game settingsCreative options such as building with no cost or flying, turned on in the game. The game warns you first: once they're on, that world keeps them and its achievements stop. Press Save now in the Saves tab first, so you have a save from before.

Anyone who has your admin password can change these and load other worlds, so keep it to yourself and share only the player password.

If a setting doesn't seem to apply

  • The Server Settings tab says the server isn't running: start the server, give it a minute to come up, then open the tab again.
  • Network quality or Seasonal events haven't changed in the game: they wait for the world to load again. Restart the server.
  • A Startup change hasn't taken effect: the server only reads the Startup tab when it starts. Restart it.
  • The daily reload is at the wrong time: check Daily world reload on the Server Settings tab. The hours are shown in your device's time zone.
