Use the No Give Notices Plugin on Rust
Install No Give Notices to hide the F1 item giving notices from chat, and see what the plugin does and does not touch.
When an admin gives an item to a player from the F1 console, Rust announces it in chat. No Give Notices is a very small plugin that stops those announcements, so an event prize or a replacement item doesn't turn into a public message. This guide covers installing it on your server, what it does and doesn't touch, and how to check it is running.
Checked against No Give Notices 0.3.1 by Mr. Blue on uMod (released 2 July 2026), October 2026. The plugin's description reads "Prevents F1 item giving notices from showing in the chat".
Install it
- Open the Plugins tab, search the Store for No Give Notices and press Install. If your server runs plain Rust, How to install Oxide/uMod plugins on your Rust server first adds Oxide.
- The plugin is now in the Installed list. On Carbon it loads by itself. On Oxide it does not: on our test server,
oxide.pluginsin the Console (c.pluginson Carbon) showed it asNoGiveNotices - Unloadedforty seconds after the install. - On Oxide, Restart the server, or type
oxide.load NoGiveNoticesin the Console. - After a restart the Console printed
Loaded plugin No Give Notices v0.3.1 by Mr. Blue.oxide.pluginslists every plugin with its state, so you can confirm it any time (on Carbon, oxide.pluginsprints nothing; usec.plugins).
How it works
The whole plugin is 27 lines of code. It listens for two Oxide hooks and, in each, returns true when the text matches so the message is not shown:
OnServerMessageblocks a message when its text contains "gave" and the sender name is "SERVER".OnPlayerActionBroadcastblocks a player action broadcast when the action text contains "gave".
Both checks look for the lower-case word "gave", so a message that only contains "Gave" is not matched.
What there is to set up
Nothing. The plugin has no config file, no chat or console commands and no permissions, which also means there is nothing to grant with oxide.grant (or c.grant on Carbon). Once it is loaded it applies to every message that matches, whoever caused it.
To see it work, give yourself an item as described in How to give yourself items on your Rust server and watch the chat. The plugin's own description says it stops the F1 item giving notices, so the usual "gave" line should not appear.
Remove it
Switch the Plugins tab to Installed and press the red trash-icon Delete button on No Give Notices. It asks once more, then removes the plugin's file. Item gives are announced again from that point.
This plugin only hides the "gave" notices. If you also want to quiet kick and ban announcements, How to hide admin commands in the Rust console covers a second plugin for that.
Common problems
- The notices still appear. Run
oxide.plugins(c.pluginson Carbon) in the Console. If No Give Notices is listed asUnloaded, restart or runoxide.load NoGiveNotices(Oxide) orc.load NoGiveNotices(Carbon; it usually loads by itself). - Another message with "gave" in it vanishes. The plugin blocks any server message from "SERVER" and any player action broadcast whose text holds that word, so reword the other message.
