Install Billy's Whitelist (bWhitelist) on GMod
Install Billy's Whitelist from the GmodStore tab to whitelist DarkRP jobs without editing job files, with default local storage.
Billy's Whitelist (bWhitelist) is a paid job whitelisting system for DarkRP and forks such as MilitaryRP and StarWarsRP, sold on GmodStore and built as a module for GmodAdminSuite. It decides who can take which job without you editing the job files. This guide installs it with the GmodStore tab and covers the first things to set up.
What it replaces
Normally a DarkRP job is locked to certain players by adding Steam IDs to its customCheck field. bWhitelist replaces that. Its listing says you don't have to edit your job file at all, because it uses DarkRP's own hooks to decide who may take a job. It can whitelist by SteamID, SteamID64, usergroup or a custom Lua function.
The listing's example is a StarWarsRP trainer who adds a recruit to the stormtrooper whitelist after they pass a test, with no admin needed to change a usergroup. If you now give players a ULX usergroup per job, compare that with GMod ULX admin commands.
What you need first
- A GmodStore account that has bought Billy's Whitelist.
- DarkRP, or one of its forks, running on the server. The Gamemode presets card on the Startup tab has a DarkRP preset that unlocks once DarkRP is in your Workshop collection and the server has restarted.
- GmodAdminSuite, which the listing names as a requirement.
- The XEON DRM module: Install XEON DRM on a GMod server.
- A server with working inbound and outbound HTTP requests from Garry's Mod.
Install it
The connect-and-install steps are the same for every addon you bought. Install Billy's Logs (bLogs) on GMod shows how to connect your GmodStore account with an access token. Once you are connected:
- Open the GmodStore tab, switch to Store, find Billy's Whitelist and press Install.
- Add the XEON module if the tab asks for it, then check
garrysmod/addonsin the File Manager for the bWhitelist folder andxeon-drm. - Restart the server from the Console tab.
- Join and follow the on-screen instructions to activate your licence. Restart again.
Set up your whitelists
The listing says bWhitelist is configured fully in game. The listing says Billy's addons are modules that plug into GmodAdminSuite, and it names these tools:
- An "enable all whitelists" button.
- A factions selector and a factions editor.
- Bulk actions for adding or removing many players.
- A context menu entry, so a trainer can right-click a player and add them to a whitelist.
- A setting for whether players spawn as a whitelisted job.
- A one-click transfer of your data from the previous whitelist system.
- Notices telling a player when they have been whitelisted or unwhitelisted.
Billy's addons use GmodAdminSuite's permission system, OpenPermissions, so you decide which staff and trainers can use these tools.
Leave storage on its default
MySQL storage isn't available on our plans, so leave the storage on its default, local storage.
Common problems
- The Installed view shows a Needs XEON DRM badge. Add the module and restart.
- Nothing happens after the restart. Join the server first. The licence is activated by joining, and XEON asks you to sign in through Steam.
- Your old whitelists are missing. The listing says whitelist data can be transferred from the previous system at the click of a button, so look for that button in the menu before you re-enter anything by hand.
