Find the Enshrouded Fell Wispwyvern
The Fell Wispwyvern waits in the castle courtyard at The Pike in Pikemead's Reach. Its location, drops and how to prepare.
The Fell Wispwyvern is a boss found at the castle in Pikemead's Reach, the old capital in Revelwood. You meet it through a Blacksmith quest, and its drops include a Flame Altar upgrade ingredient and the key to the castle. This guide covers where to find it, what it drops and how to prepare for the fight.
Checked against Enshrouded 1.0 (hotfix 1.0.0.3 of 21 October 2026), October 2026.
Where it is
The Fell Wispwyvern is found only at The Pike, the castle in Pikemead's Reach. Look in the castle's courtyard, at the northern end of the town. Gamer Guides says the boss shows up as soon as you walk into the courtyard.
The wiki lists the Blacksmith's quest Reach The Capital, Pikemead's Reach, which follows Crucible Needed For A Smelter and has the castle beast as its last objective. Follow it and you reach the boss without needing to look for it.
What it drops
- The Fell Wispwyvern Head, an ingredient for a Flame Altar upgrade
- The Key to The Pike, the key to the castle
- The wiki also lists Shroud Cores, Legendary Runes and the Commander's Ring
Fighting it
The wiki says the boss roars to call in Fell Beetles, and that a hit to its mouth during that roar leaves it stunned and vulnerable to damage. Gamer Guides (2024) recommends bringing ranged attacks for this fight.
Carry a ranged weapon even if you normally fight up close, so you can hit the mouth when it roars.
Besides the roar, the wiki lists four attacks. Shroud projectiles land in areas marked by reticules, which Gamer Guides describes as circles on the ground, so walk out of them. Its Shroud breath hits the area in front of it. Gamer Guides, which calls it a spray, says the direction locks when the boss stands up, so sidestep. The pounce lands where you were standing, so keep moving. A tail sweep hits anything in melee range, and Gamer Guides says only a dodge roll avoids it.
Level and Flame requirement
allthings.how lists level 16 as the recommended level for the quest. The quest also needs Shroud Passage Level 3, according to allthings.how, and the wiki lists that passage level for Flame level 3. The helmet from the Scavenger Matron gets you there.
Before you go in
The Gamer Guides boss guide suggests bringing greater health potions and bandages, Chamomile Tea, a Flask of the Fell, and mana potions if you play a mage. That guide dates from the Early Access period, so check your recipes in game.
After the kill
The quest gives a second head on top of the boss drop, says the wiki, and allthings.how agrees. Your heads go toward the Flame level 4 upgrade, listed by the wiki, PinDrop and allthings.how. Alongside the head it needs 15 Goo, 15 Corrupted Boar Tusk, 10 Spark, 15 Indigo Plant, 15 Amber and 15 Copper Ore.
A Fell Wispwyvern Trophy costs one head, 2 Wood Planks and 2 Nails. The boss drops 3 Shroud Cores. The wiki and allthings.how agree that an altar build zone of 80x80x80 costs 1 Shroud Core and 120x120x120 costs 5.
On your server
Only the Admin role can place a Flame Altar to begin with, while a Friend can build, open chests, dig and gather. See Enshrouded roles and permissions, or How to make an Enshrouded server if you are starting out.
