Enshrouded Scavenger Matron locations

The Scavenger Matron is a boss that leads some of the Scavenger camps across Embervale. Two of her camps are pointed out by quests, and the official wiki lists five more. This guide covers where to find each one and what to expect when you get there.

Hill of Scavengers, Springlands

This is the Matron most players meet first. The camp is a fort a short way northeast of the Springlands Ancient Spire and south of the Mistbury Catacombs, and she waits at the top of the hill inside it. The Alchemist's quest The Alchemist's Rumors gives you the location.

Glennwood's End, Revelwood

Glennwood's End is a settlement in the north of Revelwood that Scavengers have taken over. The quest A Crucial Investigation points you to it.

Other camps the wiki lists

The official wiki names five more places where Scavenger Matrons are found. It gives no directions for any of them, so find them on the map:

• Revelwood: Fawnsong Frontier
• Nomad Highlands: the ruins northwest of the Mining Rift, Lupa's Lair and Surat's Rest
• Kindlewastes: Ocean's Heart, East Lapis (one entry on the wiki)

Version 1.0 also added new areas near the edge of the Springlands, Blackmire and Kindlewastes. We found no source that lists a Matron in those areas, so none are listed here.

The fight

The wiki sorts Matrons into two variants. A Gorger fires poison out in three directions at whoever she is fighting, while a Grizzler calls in extra enemies. In 1.0 Keen reduced the damage of some of her attacks, and the poison area attack in particular.

Gamer Guides and GameLuster, both from 2024, agree that she throws poison from range and hits hard up close. Gamer Guides says to run around her to one side instead of straight away, and to run far to the side when her head draws back while she stands still.

Ranged weapons make it easier. GameLuster recommends bows, wands and staves, and a GameWith walkthrough written for Update 8, before 1.0, used a bow from high ground.

What hurts her

The wiki lists cutting, piercing, ice and Shroud damage as effective, blunt, poison and fire as resisted, and shock as normal. PinDrop's 1.0 data gives the same split.

What she drops

The wiki lists a Scavenger Matron Helmet, a key ingredient for the Level 3 Flame Altar upgrade, among other drops.

Both quests also reward a Scavenger Matron Helmet, according to the wiki's quest pages and the allthings.how boss list. Killing her in The Alchemist's Rumors also unlocks the Improved Grappling Hook recipe, which you craft with the Carpenter.

What the helmet is for

The wiki, PinDrop and allthings.how all list the Flame level 3 upgrade as one helmet plus 10 Wax, 10 Salt, 5 Spark, 10 Shroud Wood, 10 Flintstone and 25 Mycelium. Level 3 allows 6 Flame Altars, and PinDrop and allthings.how say it opens up Revelwood, where the Fell Wispwyvern waits.
