How to get Ectoplasm Fragments in Enshrouded

Where Ectoplasm Fragments drop in the Hollow Halls, what Enshrouded 1.0 changed, and what the Collector makes from them.

Updated 3 min read

Ectoplasm Fragments are a crafting material the wiki lists as coming only from the Hollow Halls, the undead dungeons of Embervale. The Collector turns them into arrows, spell charges and furniture. This guide covers where they drop, how to farm them and what they are for.

Checked against Enshrouded 1.0 (hotfix 1.0.0.3 of 21 October 2026), October 2026.

Where Ectoplasm Fragments come from

According to the official wiki, Hollow enemies inside the Hollow Halls drop Ectoplasm Fragments, and glowing green piles of bones in there can be mined with a pickaxe. Keen's 1.0 notes widen the sources: hounds and Hollow melee fighters in the Halls can now drop ectoplasm too.

The wiki lists them as coming only from the Hollow Halls. The first place to farm them is the Springlands Hollow Halls, which the Alchemist sends you to with the quest Explore The Hollow Halls. Gamer Guides lists wights in that dungeon as a drop source. For how to reach it, read How to access the Enshrouded Hollow Halls.

Tip

Take a pickaxe in with you. A bone pile gives you fragments without a fight, which is handy when a room is crowded.

The ectoplasm family

The wiki lists four materials that come only from the Hollow Halls: Ectoplasm Fragment, Ectoplasm Shard, Ectoplasm Crystal and Ectoplasm Cluster. All four are used at the Collector's bench to make Hollow-style supplies and decorations.

What fragments are for

At the Collector, fragments go into Bone Arrows, Giant Bone Arrows, bone spell charges and Hollow furniture. In 1.0 Keen reduced the amount of ectoplasm needed in spell charges, arrow recipes and Hollow Hall furniture recipes, so older guides may list bigger numbers than you see in game. Check the recipe at the Collector.

The quest Ectoplasm Press For The Collector rewards you with an Ectoplasm Press. The wiki says it asks you to take the head of the Hollow Cyclops at the bottom of the Revelwood Hollow Halls, use it to craft the press, then place it.

Keen also made the Ectoplasm Block a tier 2 building material in 1.0.

What each craft costs

MetaBot's 1.0 game data and the wiki give the same fragment numbers.

Making Ectoplasm Gems

At the Collector, an Ectoplasm Gem takes 2 ectoplasm of any tier and 1 Bonemeal. A shard, crystal or cluster can stand in for a fragment. Gems go into crypt furniture: a Crypt Chair uses 1 and a Crypt Throne uses 2.

Chests that cost ectoplasm

A Hollow Halls end room holds chests for the warrior, ranger and mage, in gold or silver, with a weapon or armour inside. Keen's Update 8 notes and the wiki both say you can open any number of them if you bring enough Ectoplasm items.

Keep some back

Opening the chests in the end rooms of a Hollow Halls costs resources, and Keen cut that cost by 25% in 1.0. The Bone Key for the next Hollow Halls is crafted from materials too, and a tooltip in the game now reminds you to keep some back for it.

On your server

By default the Admin and Friend roles can open chests in your bases, but Guest can't, so keep your spare fragments in a base chest and give your group the right password.
