Enshrouded classes and the skill tree
Enshrouded has no fixed class. See how the Warrior, Ranger and Mage trees work, how you earn skill points and what changed in 1.0, including the reset.
In Enshrouded your class is whatever you build in the skill tree. This guide explains how the tree is laid out, how you earn skill points and what to know before you spend them.
Checked against Enshrouded 1.0.0.3 (hotfix of 21 October 2026), October 2026.
How the skill tree works
The official wiki says any player can follow any pathway in the tree, whatever their class, as long as the nodes are connected. Keen Games' Update 8 notes say the rework added more paths between classes. So a melee build can reach into the ranger side, and the reverse.
The skills sit in three class trees plus a set of shared skills:
The official wiki also names sub-branches inside each tree. It lists Assassin, Ranger, Beastmaster and Survivor under Ranger, Trickster, Wizard, Healer and Battlemage under Mage, and Tank, Warrior, Barbarian and Athlete under Warrior. Keen Games' 1.0 notes confirm an assassin tree, where the dagger skills now live after being moved out of the warrior area.
Earning skill points
The official wiki and PinDrop's 1.0 skill-points page agree on three sources:
- Each level gives 2 skill points.
- Cleansing a Shroud Root gives 1 point.
- Completing an Elixir Well gives 3 points.
The official wiki adds that each Shroud Root and Elixir Well pays out only once. The highest character level is 50 in 1.0.
What changed in 1.0
- Your tree was reset. Keen Games' notes say that the first time you load a world with an existing save in version 1.0.0.0, the skill tree is reset and the points come back to spend again. If your server was running Early Access, tell your players. The Enshrouded 1.0 dedicated server guide covers the update.
- New skills. Keen's notes list new skills including Aerial Wand Attack, Advanced Necromancy, Blast and Cast and Barrage. The MetaForge database files the first three under Mage and Barrage under Ranger.
- Double Jump is easy to reach. Keen moved it to the centre of the tree in the April 2026 update, and the wiki and MetaForge both list it as a shared skill.
- Airborne Architect. A new skill at the centre of the tree that lets you build in a free-flying mode.
- Upgradable skills. Keen's notes say many skills can be upgraded after you unlock them, and that armour perks can raise a skill's level past what points alone allow.
Respeccing
You can reset your tree at a Flame Altar. The official wiki and Keen's 2024 Souls of the Frozen Frontier notes both say it costs Runes. Spend points slowly at first, because the same Runes are also used to upgrade gear.
Dessert Stomach, a Ranger-tree skill, adds one more food slot. It is a good example of a skill that is not about combat. See the Enshrouded cooking guide.
Gear follows your build
Keen's notes say each crafting survivor handles one combat class: the Blacksmith for warrior gear, the Huntress for ranger gear and the Alchemist for mage gear. The Enshrouded upgrade equipment guide explains how upgrading works.
On your server
If the server uses the Custom difficulty preset, the Progression card of the Server Settings tab has Combat XP, Mining XP and Exploration and quest XP. Raising them gets players their skill points sooner. Enshrouded server settings walks through the tab, and Enshrouded server hosting lists the plans.
