Add Pam's HarvestCraft to your server

Install Pam's HarvestCraft 2 on NeoForge, or the original on Forge 1.12.2 from CurseForge, and check the licence before you charge players.

Updated 5 min read

Pam's HarvestCraft is a farming and food mod by Pamela Collins. It comes in two generations: the original single mod, which stops at Minecraft 1.12.2, and Pam's HarvestCraft 2, which is split into separate mods for Forge and NeoForge. This guide covers both, so you can pick the one that matches your server.

Checked against Pam's HarvestCraft 2 Food Core 1.0.4, Crops 1.0.9 and Trees 1.0.9 on NeoForge 1.21.1, October 2026. The original Pam's HarvestCraft 1.12.2zg was installed and started on Forge 1.12.2 the same month. Food Extended 1.0.0 is read from its download page and was not run. This is the 1.21.1 line. CurseForge also lists newer NeoForge 26.2 builds of all four HarvestCraft 2 mods (version 1.0.0, 3 October 2026), covered under Install HarvestCraft 2.

Pick the generation

  • Pam's HarvestCraft 2 is the generation to use on NeoForge, here on 1.21.1 and 26.2, the versions checked. The author calls it a reboot, not an update. Food Core adds the foods and is the only mod the author lists as required. Crops adds crops that you plant from food items dropped by garden bushes in the world. Trees adds fruit trees. Food Extended adds hundreds more foods on top of the others. Modrinth lists Forge and NeoForge builds only.
  • Pam's HarvestCraft (the original) runs on Forge 1.12.2. The author's page says it will not update past 1.12.2 and points you to HarvestCraft 2 for later versions.

Food Extended depends on the rest. Modrinth lists Food Core as required for it, and the CurseForge summary says it also needs Crops and Trees. Install all four if you want it.

Switch the server to the right loader

Skip this if the server already runs the loader and version below.

  1. Open JAR Manager under More in the left rail.
  2. For HarvestCraft 2, set Server software to NeoForge and Minecraft version to 1.21.1. For the original, set Forge and 1.12.2.
  3. Press Apply change, leave Take a backup first ticked, and hold Confirm & reinstall until it fills. The panel warns that your world is kept but configuration files may be reset, so keep the backup. If mods already on the server have no build for the new loader or version, the box lists them and ticks an option to disable the ones that won't run (kept, not deleted). The button reads Switch anyway only if you untick it.

The original mod needs a world made on 1.12.2, or a fresh world. Moving a world from a newer version down to 1.12.2 is a downgrade, which Minecraft says is not supported and could corrupt the world, and the panel gives no downgrade warning. Keep the backup.

The panel picks the Java version for you. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader covers the tab in full.

Install HarvestCraft 2

  1. Open the Mods tab under Content in the left rail.
  2. In the Store view, press the CurseForge source button and search for HarvestCraft 2. The Modrinth pages carry older builds for 1.21.1 (Crops 1.0.0 and Trees 1.0.4, against 1.0.9 on CurseForge).
  3. Press Install on Pam's HarvestCraft 2 - Food Core first, then on Crops, Trees and Food Extended as you want them. Other add-ons for the mod appear in the same results, so check each name and author.
  4. Restart the server from the Console tab. The toast after each install says "Restart the server to load it."

The store installs the newest release built for your server's loader and Minecraft version.

NeoForge 26.2

For a server on NeoForge 26.2, set Minecraft version to 26.2 in the step above, and the same steps install the 26.2 builds of Food Core, Crops, Trees and Food Extended (all version 1.0.0). Each of those jars asks for Minecraft 26.2 exactly and NeoForge 26.2.0.88 or newer, so their version ranges leave out 26.1 and 26.3. The panel runs 26.x on Java 25 by itself.

Install the original on 1.12.2

  1. Open the Mods tab, press the CurseForge source button and search Pam's HarvestCraft. The original, by pamharvestcraft, is the first result. The Modrinth source shows no results for it on Forge 1.12.2.
  2. Press Install. The original needs no other mods, so it installs straight away and the button changes to Installed. The jar is saved as Pams HarvestCraft 1.12.2zg.jar, without the apostrophe.
  3. Start the server from the Console tab. On 1.12.2 the ready line reads Done (...)! For help, type "help" or "?".

The console prints many Potentially Dangerous alternative prefix warnings for HarvestCraft's items while it starts. They are harmless: the server still reaches Done.

Players and the licence

Players need the same mods on their own game, on the same loader and version. Modrinth marks every HarvestCraft 2 mod as required on both sides.

The licence on the HarvestCraft 2 pages allows the mods in free modpacks, but says they may not be on a server that costs money to play on (donations are fine). Read it on the mod page before you run a public server that charges players.

First start and common problems

  • Check the mods loaded. Start the server and watch the Console. In Mods, Installed, a "Failed to load" badge means a mod did not start. Find and read a crash report helps name the cause.
  • Food Extended does not load. Check that Food Core, Crops and Trees are all in the Installed list, then restart.
  • Settings. On the 1.21.1 builds, Crops and Trees write pamhc2crops.toml and pamhc2trees.toml into the config folder after the first start. The world/serverconfig folder holds only a readme, so you do not need to look there. Edit them in File Manager with the server stopped.
  • A player cannot join. Check they run the same loader, Minecraft version and mods.
Tip

Create a backup before you add or update farming mods on a world you care about. Create and restore backups shows how.
