Add Farming for Blockheads to your server
Install Farming for Blockheads 26.3.0.1 on a Fabric 26.3 server with Balm and Fabric API, then set up the Market, Shipping Bin and trades.
Farming for Blockheads adds a Market that sells seeds and saplings for emeralds and a Shipping Bin that buys your produce, plus sprinklers, fertilizers, a feeding trough and a chicken nest. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and every player needs it on their own game too.
Checked against Farming for Blockheads 26.3.0.1 on Fabric 26.3, October 2026.
What you need
- Fabric on Minecraft 26.3. This build asks for Java 25, and the panel picks that for you when you choose the version.
- Balm 26.3.0.1 or newer and Fabric API. Modrinth lists both as required, so the install window offers them.
- A different loader or version? Modrinth has 21.1.14 for Minecraft 1.21.1 on NeoForge, Forge and Fabric, and 26.x builds for NeoForge and Fabric. The settings below come from the mod's guide for 26.1 and above, so an older line may differ.
Switch the server to Fabric 26.3
- Open JAR Manager, under More in the left rail.
- Set Server software to Fabric and Minecraft version to 26.3, then press Apply change.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked, press and hold Confirm & reinstall, and wait for the console to finish.
Change your Minecraft version or mod loader covers the switch in full.
Install it
- Open the Mods tab under Content and leave the Modrinth source chip selected.
- Search for Farming for Blockheads and press Install.
- A window lists the add-ons it needs, Balm and Fabric API. Press Install all.
- Go to Console, press Start and accept the EULA prompt the first time. The server is ready when the console shows
Done.
Use the Market and the Shipping Bin
Right-click a Market to open it. Pick an item on the right, put the payment in the slot on the left and take the purchase from the result slot. Out of the box it sells seeds and saplings, and the payment is emeralds.
The Shipping Bin works the other way. Right-click it, put produce in, and when the progress bar fills the shipment leaves and you are paid in emeralds. A shipment holds 128 by default.
Change the settings
After the first start, the mod's settings sit in farmingforblockheads-common.toml in the config folder. Open it in the File Manager, press Save and restart the server. The options most servers touch:
includedGroupsis the list of trade groups the Market offers. The default[default]stands forselling.seeds,selling.saplingsandselling.fertilizers.minecraft.excludedGroupsswitches groups off and wins overincludedGroups. Addingselling.seedsremoves every seed trade.feedingTroughRange(default 8) andfeedingTroughMaxAnimals(default 24) set how far a trough reaches and when it stops feeding.chickenNestRangedefaults to 8.disableVanillaWateringdefaults tofalse. Set it totrueand farmland no longer moistens from nearby water, though rain and watering cans still do.
New trades and prices are data packs, not config. The mod's customisation guide shows the recipe files. Upload the pack into your world's datapacks folder with the File Manager and run datapack enable for it in the Console.
Common problems
- The server stops at start and names Balm or Fabric API. Open the Installed view of the Mods tab and read the red Needs badge on the mod's row. Switch to Store, search for the library it names and press Install.
- Custom trades do not show up. The mod's FAQ says this usually means a JSON mistake. Check the file in a JSON validator and read
logs/latest.logfor errors. - Players cannot join. They need the same mod file and the same loader. Press Export for players in the Installed view of the Mods tab, then read Join a modded server from your launcher.
- Something else breaks at start. Fix Minecraft mod and plugin load errors walks through reading the log.
