Set up MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure

Install the MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure NeoForge pack from the Modpacks tab, then learn what its server pack needs and how players join.

Updated 4 min read

MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure is a NeoForge modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 built around the MineColonies town mod. The project page says players run a colony of builders, farmers, miners and guards, then leave it for other dimensions, dungeons, airships, space and tech mods such as Mekanism. This guide installs it from the Modpacks tab and covers how players join.

Checked against MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure 1.21.1-1.2.6-hotfix (Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge), October 2026.

What it needs

  • NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. The newest file on CurseForge is MineColonies Dimensional Adventure-1.21.1-1.2.6-hotfix. It has a separate server pack, about 1.1 GB, which the Modpacks tab installs for you. The server pack's own variables.txt names NeoForge 21.1.249.
  • Java 21. The panel picks Java from the Minecraft version, and 1.21.1 gets Java 21.
  • RAM. The author's server files set a 10 GB Java heap. Choose a plan with 10 GB of RAM or more, matching the author's heap, on Minecraft hosting.
  • Free disk space. The zip downloads onto your server's disk before it is unpacked, so keep room for the zip and then the unpacked pack.
  • The right pack. The author also publishes MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure [Re-Blueprinted] as a separate project. Pick the one named MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure by Devilswarchild.

Install it on your server

Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server and replaces the current world, so use a new server or one you can wipe.

  1. Open Backups and click Create backup.
  2. Open Modpacks, under Content in the left rail. Above the results, choose the CurseForge chip, next to Modrinth.
  3. Search for MineColonies Dimensional Adventure and pick the row named exactly MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure, by Devilswarchild with the NeoForge badge. Do not pick the Re-Blueprinted one, which is a different pack by the same author.
  4. Click Install. A window titled Install MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure? opens.
  5. Leave Take a backup first ticked. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want the server to start itself. If an I agree to the Minecraft EULA box then appears, tick it. If you leave Start unticked, accept the EULA at your first Start on the Console tab instead, if the window appears.
  6. Press and hold Install and reinstall, then watch the Console tab. A progress bar fills as the install runs, and it finishes at 100% with the message Installed. Start the server whenever you are ready.

The server pack has no loader of its own. It carries a variables.txt that names the loader and Minecraft version, and the panel reads that file to install NeoForge itself. It also writes its own start script, so the 10 GB setting in the pack's files is not used: the panel sizes the Java heap from your plan's RAM.

Join the server

  1. The pack page asks players to use either the CurseForge app or Prism. It says to download the pack only from CurseForge, warns that ATLauncher and GDLauncher bug out with this pack, and says the team gives no support for TLauncher.
  2. Install MineColonies: Dimensional Adventure. Version 1.21.1-1.2.6-hotfix is the newest on its page.
  3. Add your server in the multiplayer list with the address in the left rail. Connect to your server for the first time shows where it is.

Use Operators in the Players tab to give yourself commands (Whitelist players and set operators).

Getting help for the pack

The pack is not officially associated with the MineColonies team, and its page asks players not to take its problems to them. Use the Discord link on the pack's CurseForge page instead.

Updating later

A CurseForge pack has no Update to button, because that button only checks Modrinth packs, and a pack that is already installed shows Installed instead of Install. To move to a newer version, take a backup, press Remove modpack, then install the new version.

Common problems

  • The console says no CurseForge server pack is available. Check you picked the right project, not the Re-Blueprinted one.
  • The install stops while unpacking. The message says your plan's disk may be too small. Free some space and install again.
  • The server runs out of memory. Check the RAM Usage card, and see Why is my server lagging.
Warning

Installing a modpack replaces the server's current files. Take a backup first.
