Install Industrial Foregoing on your server
Install Industrial Foregoing and its Titanium library on a NeoForge or Forge server from the Mods tab, start your first machines and fix common errors.
Industrial Foregoing is an automation mod with machines for farming mobs and plants, storing items and fluids, generating power and sorting enchantments. It needs a library mod called Titanium, and both the server and the players need both. This guide covers installing it from the Mods tab and starting the first machines.
Checked against Industrial Foregoing 3.6.27 on NeoForge 1.21.1, October 2026. That is the newest build Modrinth marks as a release, published in April 2025. Every later build up to 3.6.39 (July 2026) is marked beta on Modrinth, and the project's CurseForge page labels some of those builds differently. The store installs the newest release build of a mod, and falls back to the newest beta only when a mod has no release build.
What it needs
- NeoForge or Forge. Modrinth lists NeoForge builds for Minecraft 1.21 and 1.21.1, and Forge builds for 1.20.1 and older. There is no Fabric build and no build for Minecraft 26.x, so pick 1.21.1 or 1.20.1 in JAR Manager.
- Titanium. Modrinth lists it as a required dependency of Industrial Foregoing. The store offers it for you.
- Both sides. Modrinth marks it as required on the client and the server.
If your server is on another software, open JAR Manager under More and switch (Change your Minecraft version or mod loader). Switching reinstalls the server and keeps your world, though some configuration files can reset, so create a backup first in the Backups tab.
Install it
- Open the Mods tab, under Content in the panel menu, with the Modrinth chip selected.
- Search for
Industrial Foregoing. Choose Industrial Foregoing by buuz135, not an add-on such as "Industrial Foregoing: Souls". - Click Install. A popup titled Needs 1 more add-on lists Titanium. Click Install all (2) to add both. Modrinth marks every Titanium build for NeoForge 1.21.1 as beta, so the store installs a beta Titanium beside the release Industrial Foregoing.
- Press Restart on the Console tab, or Start if the server is stopped.
Open the Installed view and check that both mods are listed with no Failed to load or Needs Titanium badge.
First machines
The project page's starting advice is short, and the mod's own in-game text agrees with it. Collect latex with a Tree Fluid Extractor placed in front of a log. Then use a Latex Processing Unit, with some water and power, to make tiny piles of rubber. The page ends with "Read the manual for more info".
Machines use power, and the mod has its own power generation. If the server slows down once your factory grows, read Why is my server lagging?.
Settings
Each group of machines has its own config file, such as machine-core, with one entry per setting. For the Latex Processing Unit, maxProgress is the time per cycle in ticks (default 100, which is 5 seconds) and powerPerTick is the power used each tick (default 20). You will find the files in the config/industrialforegoing folder after the first start, such as machine-core.toml and machine-generator.toml. Titanium writes its own files in config/titanium. Stop the server before you edit one in the File Manager.
Common problems
- It is missing from the search: the Game version filter starts on your server's version. Minecraft 26.x and Fabric servers have no build.
- The server stops on boot and names Titanium: Titanium is not installed. Add it from the Mods tab.
- Players cannot join: they need Industrial Foregoing and Titanium for the same loader and version.
- You want to update: make a backup first, then use Check for updates in the Installed view. A release build is never offered a beta, so with 3.6.27 installed you only see newer release builds, and Modrinth has none for NeoForge 1.21.1.
