Set up a Drehmal server

Drehmal: APOTHEOSIS is a large exploration map for Minecraft 1.20.1, with a 12k by 12k block world, over a thousand designed structures and an original soundtrack. It plays almost entirely in survival and supports up to eight friends. A Drehmal server needs two things: a Fabric 1.20.1 server, which the Modpacks tab sets up from Drehmal's Modrinth pack, and the world file, which is a separate download. Drehmal describes its mods as client-side, so they are for your players.

Checked against Drehmal APOTHEOSIS 2.2.2f on Fabric 1.20.1, October 2026.

What it needs

• Minecraft 1.20.1 on Fabric. Drehmal's pack on Modrinth is built for Fabric loader 0.16.14. Installing the pack from the Modpacks tab gives you a Fabric 1.20.1 server, and the panel sets Java 17 for 1.20.1 on its own.
• The world file. Drehmal's Modrinth pack holds only the mods and the resource pack, not the world. The world is a download from the downloads page at https://www.drehmal.net/downloads, which links it on Google Drive.
• Memory. Drehmal's pages give no RAM figure. For a Fabric server, how much RAM a Minecraft server needs gives a starting size, and the RAM card on the Console tab shows how it copes with the map.
• The mods and resource pack on every player's computer. Drehmal's downloads page says players on multiplayer servers must have them installed locally, and that all the mods Drehmal uses are client-side. Modrinth lists the pack itself as unsupported on servers, so it is a player download rather than something the server needs to run.

Install Fabric 1.20.1 with the pack

1. Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
2. In the source chip row at the top of the tab, leave Modrinth pressed and search for Drehmal. The search starts filtered to your server's current Minecraft version and loader, and Drehmal is a 1.20.1 Fabric pack. If the list says No modpacks found, press Show every version to clear those filters.
3. Press Install on Drehmal by DrehmalTeam. Other packs in the results, such as Drehmal + QOL and Doc's Apotheosis, are different projects.
4. In the popup, keep Take a backup first ticked and press Install and reinstall. The popup should read Fabric, Minecraft 1.20.1.

The result is a Fabric 1.20.1 server. The pack lists Sodium and Iris. In our test the console's mod list on the server included Lithium and FerriteCore and did not include Sodium or Iris.

Bring in the world

Importing the world replaces your server's current world, which is kept under a renamed folder, so do it before players join.

1. Download the Drehmal world file from the downloads page above.
2. Follow how to upload a singleplayer Minecraft world: stop the server, open World Import, drop the zip, then press Import selected world. A large zip is easier over SFTP, which that guide also covers.
3. The import reads a zip with level.dat at the top or one folder down, and it cannot find the world if level.dat is any deeper. If the download opens as a folder inside a folder, zip the world folder itself before you upload.

First start

Press Start on the Console tab and accept the Minecraft EULA if the panel asks. When the console prints a line ending in For help, type "help", the server is up. Your address is in the left rail under Server address.

Each player needs Drehmal's own setup, because its mods exist to enhance the resource pack. The downloads page offers an installer for Windows and Linux, or the Modrinth instance for manual setup. The pack's resource pack is Drehmal Resource Pack v2.2.2f.

Common problems

• A player asks what to install. Drehmal's downloads page says players on multiplayer servers must have its mods and resource pack installed locally. Point them to the installer or the Modrinth instance under First start.
• Your old world loads instead of Drehmal's. The server was probably running during the import. Stop it, then run World Import again, as the upload guide describes.
• The server lags while players explore. The world is large. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and move to a bigger plan if RAM stays full.
• Drehmal is missing from the search. The official Drehmal pack is a Modrinth project, so keep Modrinth pressed in the source chip row at the top of the tab. CurseForge has fan packs with Drehmal in the name, such as Eldarval Drehmal. They are different projects. The search also starts filtered to your server's current Minecraft version and loader, so on a server that is not on Fabric 1.20.1 it can show nothing. Press Show every version to clear the filters.
