Set up a Dimension Hopper: The Fall server
Install the Dimension Hopper: The Fall modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2 from the Modpacks tab, with its RAM needs and how players join.
Dimension Hopper: The Fall is a progression modpack for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge. A "Dimensional Shift" has scrambled portals, teleportation and even ores, and you travel through a large number of dimensions to find out why. This guide installs it on your server from the Modpacks tab.
Checked against Dimension Hopper 1.5.10 on Minecraft 1.12.2 (Forge), October 2026.
What it needs
- RAM. The pack's page says 6 GB or more is required and 8 GB or more is recommended. Check the plans on Minecraft hosting and choose one with at least 8 GB.
- Java 8. The page asks for Java 8. The panel runs Minecraft 1.12.2 on Java 8 by itself, so you do not choose it.
- The pack on every player's computer. Players install Dimension Hopper: The Fall from its CurseForge page.
- Patience on size. The page calls it a large pack that may be hard to run on some systems, and says server performance "may be slightly worse than singleplayer".
The page also lists optional Java arguments for memory problems. You cannot add Java arguments to a server here, because the panel writes the launch script itself and tunes the heap to your plan.
Install it on your server
Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server, so use a new server or one you can wipe.
- Open the Backups tab and click Create backup.
- Open the Modpacks tab, under Content in the left rail. Above the search box, choose the CurseForge chip.
- Search for
Dimension Hopperand find Dimension Hopper: The Fall by The_Computerizer. - Click Install. A window titled Install Dimension Hopper: The Fall? opens and shows the loader and Minecraft version, which should read Forge and 1.12.2.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to boot straight away; if the I agree to the Minecraft EULA box then appears, tick it.
- Click Install and reinstall, then watch the Console tab until the install finishes.
The pack has a dedicated server download, so the panel installs it as a ready-made server.
What players will find
The author's page describes 327 dimensions and 1,531 quests as of version 1.5.0. Anvils and enchantment tables are disabled and replaced by a multi-tier custom enchantment system, and space progression is split into three chapters, each with one rocket tier.
Join the server
Share the address from the left rail (Connect to your server for the first time shows where). Make yourself an operator with Operators in the Players tab if you want to use commands (Whitelist players and set operators).
Common problems
- The server stops with an out-of-memory error. Press Download Log in the Console tab (a download icon on a phone) to read the error, then use Change plan in the Settings tab if you need more RAM.
- The server runs slowly. Read Why is my server lagging?.
- The install window lists mods to download. If it names mods you must fetch yourself, follow Modpack mods to download from CurseForge.
Installing a modpack replaces the server's current files. Keep the backup if you may want your old world back.
