Install the Advanced Hook Launchers mod
Install Advanced Hook Launchers and ForgeEndertech on a Fabric, Forge or NeoForge server, learn the three hooks and controls, and fix load errors.
Advanced Hook Launchers adds grappling hooks with rope physics. Players climb, swing, pull mobs and other players towards them, and the weight of the target changes how the rope behaves. It runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and both the server and the players need it, plus a library mod called ForgeEndertech.
Checked against Advanced Hook Launchers 26.3.0.0 on NeoForge 26.3, October 2026. The newest ForgeEndertech build for NeoForge on Modrinth is 26.3.0.1.
What it needs
- A mod loader. The 26.3.0.0 release has Fabric, Forge and NeoForge builds for Minecraft 26.3. Older builds cover 26.2, 1.21.1 (NeoForge) and 1.20.1 (Forge).
- ForgeEndertech. The project page says in capitals that it REQUIRES this library, and Modrinth lists it as a required dependency. The Fabric build of ForgeEndertech in turn lists Fabric API and Forge Config API Port as required.
- Both sides. Modrinth marks it as required on the client and the server.
To change loader or version, use JAR Manager under More (Change your Minecraft version or mod loader). It reinstalls the server and keeps your world, though some configuration files can reset, so make a backup in the Backups tab first.
Install it
- Open the Mods tab, under Content in the panel menu, with the Modrinth chip selected.
- Search for
Advanced Hook Launchersand click Install. - A popup headed Needs followed by a number of add-ons lists what is missing, which should include ForgeEndertech. Click Install all to add everything in one go. The store follows each library's own requirements too.
- Press Restart on the Console tab, or Start if the server is stopped.
In the Installed view, check that every row loaded, with no Failed to load or Needs badge.
The three hooks
The project page describes three hooks:
- Pudge: pulls entities and players, rips out torches, bells and lanterns, and attaches to tree leaves, poles, iron bars and fences. Medium distance, high hook strength.
- Spear: attaches to any block except very hard ones such as metal blocks and obsidian, breaks glass and damages entities on impact. Long distance.
- Web: attaches to any surface except sandy blocks and does no damage to other players. Long distance with high elasticity.
Controls
The Modrinth page says you can dual-wield hooks, swing with momentum and perform Tarzan jumps. The keys come from the project's CurseForge page only, which lists them under Usage. For the main hand, it says to press Left Mouse Button to launch, hold Left Shift and press it to reel in or unhook, and hold Left Control and press it to loosen the rope. The off-hand uses the same actions on the Right Mouse Button. While swinging, the page says W, A, S and D build momentum, and a double tap on Space gives a Tarzan jump.
Settings
The page says hook strength, fire resistance, rope colour, length and elasticity, launcher durability and reeling speed can all be configured. After the first start the config folder holds adhooks-local.toml, which has sections such as [Pudge.Hook], [Pudge.Launcher], [Pudge.Rope] and [Spear.Hook], and forgeendertech-local.toml. Stop the server before you edit one in the File Manager (Manage your server files).
Common problems
- The mod is missing from the search: the Game version filter starts on your server's version. If it has no build for that loader and version, nothing is listed.
- The server stops on boot and names ForgeEndertech: the library is missing or older than the mod expects. Modrinth lists ForgeEndertech as required on every release, and the 26.2.0.0 release notes add a minimum ForgeEndertech version for that release. Look for ForgeEndertech in the Installed view and update it if it is behind.
- A hook fails on a heavy target: the page says each hook has a maximum weight, and that exceeding it causes failure. It also warns against trying to land the dragon alone.
