Use the Server Rewards Plugin on Rust

Server Rewards gives each player a balance of reward points, called RP, and a store they open in game to spend them on items, kits and commands. Admins fill the store from an admin mode inside the store itself. This guide covers installing it, the permission and commands, how points get into players' hands, and building the store.

Install it

1. Open the Plugins tab, search the Store for ServerRewards and press Install. How to install Oxide/uMod plugins on your Rust server has the steps, including adding Oxide to a plain server.
2. A plugin installed onto a running Oxide server stays unloaded until you Restart the server or type oxide.load ServerRewards in the Console. On Carbon it loads by itself, and c.load ServerRewards or c.reload ServerRewards in the Console loads or reloads it by hand.
3. Its permission exists only once it has loaded. Its config file, oxide/config/ServerRewards.json (carbon/configs on Carbon), appears after the first load. Balances and the store's products are kept under oxide/data/ServerRewards (carbon/data on Carbon).

Several other plugins are optional extras it can use: Economics for the exchange tab, Image Library for custom images, Kits, HumanNPC for NPC shops, PlayerDLCAPI for skin ownership checks and PlaytimeTracker for showing playtime. None is needed to start.

Who is an admin

The admin permission is serverrewards.admin. A player with it, or a player with admin level 2, can use the admin commands and the store's admin mode. From the Console:

oxide.grant user 76561198000000001 serverrewards.admin

On Carbon, use c.grant user 76561198000000001 serverrewards.admin.

Replace the number with the player's SteamID64.

How points are earned

Read this before you promise players rewards: this version of the plugin has no built-in rewards for kills, gathering or playtime. Its code has no hook that awards points for those. Points reach a player in these ways:

• An admin adds them with the rp command below.
• The player sells items in the store's SELL tab, at prices you set.
• The player exchanges Economics for RP in the EXCHANGE tab, if the Economics plugin is installed.
• Another player sends some from the TRANSFER tab.

Commands

rp is the Admin RP Command setting, and it also works in the Console without the slash. The * stands for every player who has a balance already, and can't be used with check.

Build the store

1. Open the store with /s as an admin and press ADMIN MODE at the bottom left.
2. On the KITS, COMMANDS or ITEMS tab, press ADD PRODUCT. Each product carries a name, a cost in RP, a cooldown and an optional permission.
3. Press ADMIN MODE again to see the store as a player does.

A product can carry a permission, which the plugin registers for you when you save it. Only players who hold it (or an admin) can buy that product.

Prices for selling

Items can only be sold if they have a sell price. Set them from the Console:

sr.sellable setprice rock 5
sr.sellable show rock

setprice takes an item shortname and a price, and an optional skin ID for a skin-only price. setskinmult sets the price multiplier for skin variants.

Config settings

Open Installed on the Plugins tab, press Config, edit, Save, then Reload plugin. Under Options:

• Open Store Command: s. Admin RP Command: rp.
• Use NPC dealers only: false. Turn it on to stop players opening the store by command.
• Log all transactions: true.
• Economics exchange rate (1 RP is worth this much Economics): 1.
• Hide DLC items in the store: false.

Under Categories, the Show items tab, Show kits tab, Show commands tab, Show exchange tab, Show transfer tab and Show seller tab settings are all true, so you can hide a tab by turning its setting off.

Common problems

1. Nothing happens on /s. The plugin may still be unloaded, or Use NPC dealers only is on.
2. The EXCHANGE tab says Economics isn't loaded. Install the Economics plugin.
3. A player can't buy something. The product has a permission they don't hold.
4. The Console says "[ServerRewards] ImageLibrary plugin not found, custom images will not be loaded...". Image Library wasn't loaded when Server Rewards started. Install it and reload Server Rewards if you want custom images; the store still works without it.
5. Players have no points. Nothing awards them on its own. Add some with /rp add, or set sell prices.
