Use the Info Panel Plugin on Rust
Add the Info Panel plugin for an on-screen clock, message box and event alerts, with its /ipanel commands and panel settings.
Info Panel puts small boxes on every player's screen with a clock, a rotating message, online and sleeping player counts, coordinates and event alerts such as a patrol helicopter or a Cargo Ship. It is built from panels you can turn on and off in one config file. This guide covers installing it, the commands players get, and which panels are on by default.
Checked against Info Panel 1.0.9 on uMod, October 2026. That is its latest release, from 13 September 2023 (the release note reads "hotfix for icons"), and uMod still lists the plugin as published. Its code credits "Gonzi" as author and uMod names DevGonzi.
Install it
- Open the Plugins tab, search the Store for Info Panel and press Install. How to install Oxide/uMod plugins on your Rust server has the full steps, including adding Oxide to a plain server.
- On Oxide, a plugin installed onto a running server stays unloaded until you Restart the server or type
oxide.load InfoPanelin the Console. On Carbon it loads by itself. - Watch the Console for
Loaded plugin InfoPanel v1.0.9 by Gonzi. On our test server it compiled and loaded on Rust build 2635, and the Console also printed "Default configuration file created." A plugin this old can still fail after a later Rust update, and the Console shows a red error if it does.
The first load writes the settings to oxide/config/InfoPanel.json (carbon/configs/InfoPanel.json on Carbon), and each player's choices are kept in a data file called InfoPanel_db in oxide/data (carbon/data on Carbon).
What players can type
Everyone can use the /ipanel chat command. The plugin does not ask for a permission:
The built-in time formats are H:mm, HH:mm, h:mm and h:mm tt.
The panels
The config has four docks, BottomLeftDock, BottomRightDock, TopLeftDock and TopRightDock, and a Panels section that places each panel in a dock. The panels are Clock, MessageBox, Balance, Points, Coordinates, Compass, OPlayers, Sleepers, AirdropEvent, HelicopterEvent, ChinookEvent, CargoShipEvent, Radiation and BradleyEvent.
Each panel has an Available switch. Compass, Radiation and BradleyEvent are false by default and the rest are true. To hide a panel, set its Available to false.
Balance and Points do not count anything themselves. They ask another plugin through the Balance and CheckPoints hooks, and show 0 when nothing answers. Without an economy or rewards plugin, set both to unavailable.
Edit the message box
The message box cycles through the list under Messages in the config. The default list is "Welcome!", "Beware! You Are Not Alone!" and "Leeeeeeeeeeeroy Jenkins". Replace them with your own rules, Discord address or event times. Under Panels > MessageBox > PanelSettings, MessageUpdateFrequency (seconds) sets how often it changes and MsgOrder is normal by default, or random.
To edit, open Installed on the Plugins tab, press Config on Info Panel, change the text and press Save, then Reload plugin.
Permissions
/ipanel needs no permission, and with the default config the plugin registers none. Each panel has a Permission setting, empty by default, meant to show that panel only to players who hold it. In the plugin's code it registers infopanel. plus the text you enter, but checks players against the text exactly as entered, so a filled-in value may not behave as you expect. Leave it empty unless you have tested it.
Common problems
- No panels appear. Check that the plugin shows as loaded with
oxide.pluginsin the Console (c.pluginson Carbon), and that the player hasn't typed/ipanel hide. - A change to the config doesn't show. Press Reload plugin after you save.
- The balance shows 0.00. No plugin is answering the
Balancehook. See the warning above.
