Use Pal Presets in Palworld
What Pal team presets are, where the Pal Box keeps them and what Pocketpair notes say, plus the 1.0 Pal Box search and sort, checked against 1.0.5.
Table of contents
A Pal preset lets you save the team you are carrying and bring it back later without picking each Pal again. It is useful when you swap between a fighting team, a work team and an exploring team. This guide covers where presets live, what Pocketpair's notes say about them and how to use them safely.
Checked against Palworld v1.0.5 (Pocketpair's latest patch notes, 15 September 2026), October 2026. Pocketpair's notes are the source for presets, and they do not describe the buttons, so follow the on-screen prompts in your game for the exact clicks.
What a preset is
Pocketpair added presets in v0.6.0. Its notes say you can now set and quickly select your current Pal presets from the Pal Box UI. The notes call them "Pal presets" and place them in the Pal Box, so that is where to look rather than the party screen.
paldb.cc and palworld.wiki.gg both say Pals you capture beyond your party are sent to the Pal Box automatically. paldb.cc adds that the Party tab in the menu shows each Pal's health and hunger, and lets you check and switch its learned active skills.
Use presets
Build the team you want, then open the Pal Box. Pocketpair describes two actions there: setting your current Pals as a preset, and quickly selecting a preset you set earlier. Pocketpair also refers to overwriting a team preset, so a saved preset can be replaced by a newer team.
The notes do not say how many presets you get, so look at the Pal Box to see how many slots it offers. They also do not say what happens to a preset if you release a Pal or send it to a base, so check the preset after you rearrange your Pals.
Pocketpair's v0.6.1 notes fixed an error that could occur after overwriting a team preset in the Pal Box and returning to the title screen while the party had blank spaces. The fix is in v0.6.1 and later.
Finding Pals faster in 1.0
Pocketpair's 1.0 notes added a search function to the Pal Box and a new sort option that orders Pals by Expedition Power. Both help when you build a preset from a large collection. Use search to pull up a Pal, or sort to find your best expedition candidates.
On your server
Presets are part of the base game's Pal Box, so they are available on a hosted world. The World Settings tab has no option for them. For general server setup, see Palworld getting started.
