Set up More Ores on your Minecraft server
Add the More Ores jar by hand, choose which worlds and heights the new ores spawn at in config.yml, and use /mo generate and /mo clear safely.
More Ores is a plugin that adds new ores to the world, such as Kelp Ore, Liquid Ore, Experience Ore and Ice Ore, along with items crafted from them. How often each ore spawns, and at what height, is set in its config.
Checked against More Ores 1.13.12 (June 2026), listed on SpigotMC for Minecraft 1.13 to 26.1, October 2026. Nothing lists it as tested on 26.2 or 26.3, so check the Console after the first restart.
What you need
- A Paper or Purpur server, which shows a Plugins tab under Content in the panel menu.
- Nothing else. Oraxen, Regionerator and iPotions are optional extras that More Ores uses if they are installed.
More Ores is published on SpigotMC, which the Plugins tab does not search, so you add the jar by hand.
Install More Ores
- Download the latest
.jarfrom the plugin's SpigotMC page on your computer. - In the panel, open File Manager, go into the
pluginsfolder and click Upload. Pick the jar. - Open Console and click Restart. Plugins load only at startup.
The plugin writes its files to a plugins/MoreOres folder on the first start, including config.yml.
Choose where the ores spawn
Open plugins/MoreOres/config.yml in File Manager, which opens it in the editor. The top of the file has the world settings:
Enabledturns all ore spawning on or off.All Worldsistrueby default. TheWorldslist below it is then a blacklist. If you setAll Worldstofalse, that list becomes a whitelist.Spawn Blockslists the blocks an ore can replace: stone, diorite, andesite, granite, deepslate, tuff, netherrack and end stone.
Each ore has its own block lower down, under Ores. For example:
Kelp Ore:
Enabled: true
Amount: 10
MinY: 14
MaxY: 100Amount is how many blocks per chunk become that ore, and MinY and MaxY set its height range. Keep MinY below MaxY. Click Save when you are done, then reload with /mo reload in game.
Commands and permissions
The main command is /moreores, with the aliases /mo, /mores and /moreos. Each permission below defaults to operators.
/mo menuopens a menu of every item the plugin adds, and/mo <ore> [amount]gives you one./mo reloadreloads the config. Permissionmoreores.reload./mo generate <world>forces all chunks to be able to load ores. The plugin describes it as the fix for ores not generating where they should./mo clear <world>removes the ores from every chunk./mo pregenerate <world>is marked experimental.moreores.*grants all of them.
Run these in game as an operator. generate and clear ask you to confirm. The plugin warns that they can cause lag, so run them when the server is quiet and take a backup in Backups first.
Common problems
- No new ores in an area. Ores are placed per chunk. Check
Enabled, theWorldslist and thatMinYandMaxYmatch the height you are searching, then try/mo generate <world>. /mo clearleaves some ores. After you rungenerate, the plugin warns thatclearwill not remove ores generated before it.- New ores after an update.
Auto Generate On Updateistrueby default, so ores added in an update generate on their own.
