FTB Trident modpack Minecraft server
Install FTB Trident 1.4.0, the PvP faction pack for Minecraft 1.7.10 on Forge, from the Feed The Beast source in the Modpacks tab.
FTB Trident is a Feed The Beast pack for Minecraft 1.7.10 built around player-versus-player fights. Its page describes three factions competing for supremacy in a small oasis in a barren wasteland, with powerful vehicles and weapons. The Modpacks tab installs it from its Feed The Beast source, and the install turns off the pack's client-only mods itself.
Checked against FTB Trident 1.4.0 on Forge 10.13.4.1448 and Minecraft 1.7.10, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.7.10, Forge 10.13.4.1448 and Java 8. These are the targets Feed The Beast lists for 1.4.0. The panel picks Java 8 for every Minecraft version below 1.17, so you do not set it.
- 4 GB of RAM. The pack's page lists 4 GB as both the minimum and the recommended amount. Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- About 150 MB of disk. The file list for 1.4.0 adds up to roughly that, before the world grows.
- One release. 1.4.0 is the only version Feed The Beast lists for this pack, and your players need the same one. The pack's page is on feed-the-beast.com.
Install from the Feed The Beast source
Under Modpacks, press the Feed The Beast chip and search for Trident, then press Install on FTB Trident. A window titled "Install FTB Trident?" opens and names the loader and Minecraft version, Forge and Minecraft 1.7.10. If there is no Feed The Beast chip, that source is not available on your account yet. A world saved by a newer Minecraft version than 1.7.10 cannot be kept if you tick Keep my world, settings and player lists. Hold Install and reinstall for three seconds, until it fills. The rest of the window (the version list, the backup and the start box) is in Install an FTB modpack.
First start
Two of the pack's mods only run on players' computers: CustomMainMenu and ResourceLoader. The install turns them off by renaming each jar to end in .disabled, and the Console prints a client-only mod(s) turned off line. Leave them off: on the server they stop the first start.
Press Start on the Console. On a server that has not accepted the Minecraft EULA yet, the panel asks first: press Accept & start. On our test server it reached Done (3.985s)!, the line that means the server is up.
The install writes a minimal server.properties with just the server address and port, and the server fills in the rest the first time it starts. After that start, these Config Editor settings matter most for a PvP pack:
- PvP under Gameplay must stay on for players to fight each other.
- Spawn protection (blocks) under World sets the radius around spawn where only operators can build.
- Player slots under Players sets how many people can be online at once.
- View distance (chunks) under Performance is the biggest lever on RAM and CPU.
Restart the server after you save. The editor only changes the rows you edited.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run FTB Trident 1.4.0 on Minecraft 1.7.10. Join a modded server from your launcher shows the steps.
- The install stops part way. The tab shows "The last install didn't finish" with Show install log and Retry install.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault. The pack's page says it contains Fastcraft, and that bug reports to mod authors should state Fastcraft is enabled.
