FTB Departed modpack Minecraft server
Install FTB Departed 1.4.0 on a Minecraft 1.7.10 Forge server from the Feed The Beast source in the Modpacks tab, with RAM, first start and fixes.
FTB Departed is an exploration pack from Feed The Beast for Minecraft 1.7.10 on Forge, built around the Advent of Ascension mod. Its page describes travelling to distant dimensions, meeting strange creatures and crafting legendary gear. The Modpacks tab installs the server from Feed The Beast's own source, and the install turns off the pack's client-only mods itself.
Checked against FTB Departed 1.4.0 on Forge 10.13.4.1448 and Minecraft 1.7.10, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.7.10, Forge 10.13.4.1448 and Java 8. These are the targets Feed The Beast lists for 1.4.0, the only release. The panel picks Java 8 for any Minecraft version below 1.17, so you do not set it.
- 4 GB of RAM. The pack's page lists 4 GB as both the minimum and the recommended amount. Compare that with your plan using how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
- The same version for players. They install FTB Departed 1.4.0 from the FTB App, Feed The Beast's launcher, and run it on Minecraft 1.7.10.
Install from the Feed The Beast source
On the Modpacks tab, press the Feed The Beast chip and search for Departed. Searches need at least three letters. If there is no Feed The Beast button, that source is not available on your account yet, and this route does not apply until it is. Press Install on FTB Departed. The window, "Install FTB Departed?", says it reinstalls your server with FTB Departed (Forge, Minecraft 1.7.10). Leave the version on Newest that fits your server, which installs 1.4.0, and the channel dropdown on Stable. For a fresh start leave Keep my world, settings and player lists unticked. If the window shows a note about your world in place of that tickbox, your world was saved by a newer Minecraft than this pack can open, so it is not kept, and your current world goes into the backup. Then hold Install and reinstall for three seconds, until it fills. The rest of the window is in Install an FTB modpack.
The Console follows the install. Three of the pack's mods only run on players' computers: CustomMainMenu, ResourceLoader and defaultkeys. The install turns them off by renaming each jar to end in .disabled, and the console prints 3 client-only mod(s) turned off (they run on players' computers; the Mods tab can turn them back on). Leave them off: on the server they stop the first start.
First start
Press Start on the Console. On a server that has not accepted the Minecraft EULA yet, the panel asks first: press Accept & start. On our test server the console printed Forge Mod Loader has successfully loaded 60 mods, then Done (5.137s)! For help, type "help" or "?", the line that means the server is up.
The pack includes Fastcraft, a performance mod that its page says is enabled by default. The page also asks that bug reports sent to mod authors say Fastcraft is on.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run FTB Departed 1.4.0 on Minecraft 1.7.10. Join a modded server from your launcher has the steps.
- The install stops part way. The tab shows "The last install didn't finish" with Show install log and Retry install.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault. Mention Fastcraft if you report it to a mod author.
