FTB Builders Paradise modpack Minecraft server
Install FTB Builders Paradise 1.9.0 on a Minecraft 1.12.2 Forge server from the Feed The Beast source, with its world type note, RAM and fixes.
FTB Builders Paradise is a building-focused pack from the Feed The Beast team for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge. Its page describes a familiar overworld stocked with decoration and building mods such as Little Tiles, Chisel and Fairy Lights, with ProjectEX supplying bulk materials through EMC. The Modpacks tab installs it from its Feed The Beast source.
Checked against FTB Builders Paradise 1.9.0 (released in May 2021, the newest release) on Forge 14.23.5.2855 and Minecraft 1.12.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge 14.23.5.2855 and Java 8. These are the targets Feed The Beast lists for 1.9.0. The panel runs 1.12.2 on Java 8 and picks it for you.
- Memory. The pack page lists 4 GB as both the minimum and the recommended amount. Compare that with your plan using how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
- The same pack version for players. They install FTB Builders Paradise 1.9.0 in the FTB App, Feed The Beast's launcher. Join a modded server from your launcher has the steps.
Install from the Feed The Beast source
On the Modpacks tab, press the Feed The Beast chip and search for Builders Paradise. Searches need at least three letters. If there is no Feed The Beast chip, that source is not switched on for your account yet. The results include FTB Builders Paradise and FTB Builders Paradise 2. Press Install on the one without the 2. The second is a separate pack for Minecraft 1.20.1 on Forge 47.4.18, whose page asks for Java 17 and at least 6 GB of RAM. Feed The Beast lists 1.7.0, 1.8.0 and 1.9.0 as releases, and the panel asks for the newest. For a Feed The Beast pack the window has no EULA box, so tick Start the server when it's ready only if this server has already accepted the Minecraft EULA; on a new server it will not start itself, so press Start yourself after the install. The rest of the window is in Install an FTB modpack.
The console shows Pack installed when the install is done. When this guide was checked, the install added the pack's 145 mods, turned none off and set up Forge 14.23.5.2855.
The pack sets its own world type
The pack includes a small server-side mod, Server Level Type. Its file config/teamreborn/serverleveltype/config.cfg contains levelType=BIOMESOP, and the comment above it says it overrides the level type in server.properties and does nothing on the client. The pack also ships Biomes O' Plenty.
So the World type setting in the Config Editor does not decide the terrain for this pack. The help text on that setting says it only applies when the world is first created, so changing anything later does not touch a world that already exists. To pick a different type for a new world, stop the server, edit that .cfg file in the File Manager, delete the old world only if you mean to start over, and start again.
First start
Press Start on the Console, accept the Minecraft EULA when the panel asks, and wait for For help, type. On our 16 GB test server the first start printed Done (7.854s)! about 45 seconds after Start.
An earlier test on an 8 GB server stopped twice at the line [wanionlib]: UniDict: Initializing Module: Integration, Side: Server and never finished starting. On the 16 GB server that step finished in a fraction of a second. If yours stays on that line for several minutes, press Force stop; plans between 8 GB and 16 GB were not tried.
To give yourself operator rights, open Players under Essentials, choose Operators and press Make operator. Whitelist players and set operators covers the rest of that tab.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run FTB Builders Paradise 1.9.0 on Minecraft 1.12.2 with Forge.
- The start stops at a UniDict line. See First start above.
- The terrain is not what you wanted. The world type is fixed when the world is created. See the section above.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
