Set up the Craft to Exile 2 server
Install Craft to Exile 2 on a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge server from the Modpacks tab, with the pack wiki's RAM, restart and command block advice.
Craft to Exile 2 is a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge modpack by Mahjerion, built around the Mine and Slash mod, an action RPG system in the style of Diablo and Path of Exile. Its page lists classes, a talent tree, dodge-roll combat, more than 250 quests and endgame maps. The author publishes server files for it, and the Modpacks tab installs them for you.
Checked against Craft to Exile 2 2.1.4 (the CurseForge file dated 10 September 2026) on Forge 47.4.23 and Minecraft 1.20.1, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.23. The server files include Forge 47.4.23's libraries. The pack's wiki asks for Java 17, and the panel picks Java 17 for a 1.20.1 pack, so there is nothing to choose.
- Memory. The pack's wiki recommends at least 4 to 8 GB of RAM for a server, and its CurseForge page recommends at least 6 GB. Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- Disk space. The server files are a download of about 737 MB (CurseForge's file page shows 702.4 MB for the same file, because it counts in MiB) and unpack to about 827 MB. The download sits on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so you need room for both.
- The same pack for players. Players install 2.1.4 from the CurseForge app.
Install the server
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Above the search box, press the CurseForge chip and search for
Craft to Exile 2. - Press Install on Craft to Exile 2 - 2.0 Atlas Update, not Craft to Exile [Dissonance] or Craft to Exile [Harmony], which are separate packs. Craft to Exile: Dissonance has its own guide. The popup says it reinstalls your server and names Forge and Minecraft 1.20.1.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked, because your current world is replaced. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start by itself, and I agree to the Minecraft EULA if the popup shows it.
- Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
The tab installs the newest file that has a server pack, which is 2.1.4. The server files include their own Forge libraries and launch arguments, so nothing is downloaded for Forge.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab and accept the Minecraft EULA if the panel asks. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is in the left rail with a copy button beside it. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft, and joining a modded server from a launcher covers the client side.
Settings the pack's wiki asks for
- Command blocks. The wiki says to set
enable-command-block=true. Open Config Editor, switch on Command blocks under Gameplay, press Save changes and restart. If the editor says the file does not exist yet, start the server once so it writes one. - Regular restarts. The wiki says the server should restart every 6 hours if left running, or performance can degrade. A Schedules task with a Power action of restart does this. Schedule automatic restarts has the steps.
- Memory arguments. The server files include a
user_jvm_args.txtset to 8192 MB, which our launch does not read. It sizes the heap from your plan instead.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run 2.1.4 on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge.
- The server lags. The wiki points to Spark, run with
/spark, for finding the cause. Why is my server lagging covers the panel side. - The install stops while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
