Set up the All the Mods 6 server
Install All the Mods 6 version 1.9.2 on a Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge server from CurseForge, with the settings its script skips, RAM and common fixes.
All the Mods 6, or ATM6, is a large modpack for Minecraft 1.16.5 on Forge from the ATM team. Its CurseForge page describes a mix of well-known and lesser-known mods, with a goal of reaching the Creative items by crafting the ATM Star. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's own server files from CurseForge.
Checked against All the Mods 6 version 1.9.2 (the CurseForge file dated 24 January 2024) and its server pack, on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge. The pack's server script names Forge 36.2.39. The panel switches Java for you, which is Java 8 for this version, and the pack's wiki says anything from Java 8 to 14 should work.
- Memory. The pack's wiki says its default of 5 GB is fine for 2 to 3 players, and that 10 GB is typically the most you need, which suits 6 to 8 players. Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- Disk space. The server pack is a download of about 454 MB and unpacks to about 534 MB. Both sit on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so allow about 1 GB free. The download is deleted afterwards, and your world grows on top. The Disk Analyser tab shows what is using space.
- The same pack version for players. This guide installs 1.9.2. Players need that same version. The wiki gives 8 GB as the client minimum and 10 GB as the recommended amount.
Install the server files
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Press the CurseForge chip above the search box, then search for
All the Mods 6 - ATM6. A shorter search such asAll the Mods 6also lists newer ATM packs, and ATM6 sits near the bottom. - Press Install on All the Mods 6 - ATM6. Do not pick All the Mods 6 - To the Sky, which is a separate skyblock pack.
- The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack and names Forge and Minecraft 1.16.5. If it offers a version list, leave it on Newest that fits your server.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. If the window shows Keep my world, settings and player lists, leave it unticked for a fresh start.
- Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want the server to start itself. The I agree to the Minecraft EULA box appears only after you tick that, and only if the EULA is not accepted yet. Tick it too.
- Hold the install button, which reads Hold to Install and reinstall, until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
The pack's server zip has no Forge jar and no variables.txt. The panel then installs Forge for 1.16.5 itself, using the build the pack's own manifest names, 36.2.39, the same one the pack's script names. The pack's startserver.sh stays in the file list but the panel does not run it.
Settings the pack's script would have set
On a fresh folder, the pack's startserver.sh writes a server.properties with allow-flight=true, motd=All the Mods 6 and max-tick-time=180000. The panel does not run that script, so set them yourself in the Config Editor before the first start. The three settings are:
- Allow flight under Gameplay, so flight mods do not get players kicked.
- Watchdog timeout (ms) under Performance. The pack's wiki says a "server hang detected" watchdog crash is common on fresh worlds and suggests 600000 as a first step.
- Server list message under World, if you want the pack's name in the server list.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. The pack's wiki gives 3 to 5 minutes as typical for the first start. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding the address in Minecraft.
The wiki also says to edit world/serverconfig/ftbessentials.snbt to change /home, /warp or /tpa, and world/serverconfig/ftbchunks.snbt (max_force_loaded_chunks) to change how many chunks a player can force-load, both with the server stopped.
Common problems
- The server stops with a watchdog error. Raise Watchdog timeout (ms) as above and start again.
- A player cannot join. Check they run All the Mods 6 version 1.9.2 on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge.
- The install stops while unpacking. The install message says your plan's disk may be too small for the pack. Free space in File Manager.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
