Install BiblioCraft on your server
Choose between Bibliocraft Legacy for NeoForge 1.21.1 and the original BiblioCraft for Forge 1.12.2, then install and check it.
BiblioCraft is a storage and decoration mod by Nuchaz. It began as a single bookcase and grew into bookcases, armour stands, shelves, tool racks, tables, seats and lamps. Two projects carry the name today, and the one you want depends on your Minecraft version. The original BiblioCraft stops at Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge. Bibliocraft Legacy is a remake for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1 and newer.
Checked against Bibliocraft Legacy 1.6.6 on NeoForge 1.21.1, October 2026. The newest builds are Bibliocraft Legacy 1.7.1 on NeoForge 26.1.2 and BiblioCraft 2.4.6 on Forge 1.12.2, read from their project pages.
Which BiblioCraft to install
- Bibliocraft Legacy is on Modrinth. It describes itself as a port of Nuchaz's original, rewritten from the ground up with vanilla-friendly models. It supports NeoForge on 1.21.1 and upwards, and its page says there are no plans for Fabric, Forge or Quilt, and none to backport to versions older than 1.21.1. Its newest file is 1.7.1 for Minecraft 26.1 to 26.1.2. For 1.21.1 the newest is 1.6.6, published on 16 September 2026, and it asks for NeoForge 21.1.238 or newer.
- BiblioCraft by Nuchaz is on CurseForge. Its newest file is v2.4.6 for Minecraft 1.12.2 on Forge, uploaded on 14 February 2022.
Legacy does not have everything yet. Its page lists mapping blocks (map frames, atlases, drafting compasses) and painting blocks as not added so far. Other wood types come from its add-ons, Bibliowoods Legacy and Bibliobiomes Legacy.
To change loader or version, open JAR Manager under More, choose the loader under Server software and the version under Minecraft version, then press Apply change. The panel picks the Java version for you. The switch reinstalls the server and keeps your world, so make a backup in the Backups tab first. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader has the full steps.
Install Bibliocraft Legacy
- Open Mods under Content and keep the Modrinth chip selected in the source chip row at the top of the tab. The Game version filter starts on your server's version.
- Search for
Bibliocraft Legacyand press Install. Modrinth lists JEI as an optional extra, so a prompt titled "Works well with" may offer it. Optional extras start unticked, so choose "Install Bibliocraft Legacy only" to leave JEI out. - Restart from the Console tab, or press Start if the server is stopped. The install toast says "Restart the server to load it".
Open the Installed view to check. Bibliocraft Legacy should be listed with no Failed to load badge.
Install the original BiblioCraft
On a Forge 1.12.2 server, open Mods. In the source chip row at the top of the tab, press CurseForge and search for BiblioCraft. The jar lists no dependencies. Press Install on the BiblioCraft result, then restart from the Console tab.
Players need it too
Modrinth lists Bibliocraft Legacy as required on both the client and the server, so every player installs the same file for NeoForge and their Minecraft version. Join a modded server from your launcher covers the player side. The original BiblioCraft's CurseForge page does not say which side needs it, so give each player the same jar.
Settings
Legacy's only options are cosmetic ones and JEI display settings, both in the client config. A server has nothing to edit.
Common problems
- Bibliocraft Legacy doesn't show for your version: it needs NeoForge on 1.21.1 or newer. On Forge or Fabric for a modern version, neither project has a build. Use NeoForge on 1.21.1 or newer, or Forge on 1.12.2 for the original.
- A player cannot join: their mod version differs from yours. See Fix the mismatched mod channel list error.
- The server stops at startup: Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the Console log.
