Get Chromite and Hexolite in Palworld

Chromite is a metal buried underground that you mostly find around Feybreak Island, and Hexolite is the alloy you make from it. Hexolite is needed for late-game armour, weapons and buildings, so a stock of Chromite is worth building early. This guide covers where Chromite comes from, how Hexolite is made and what the two sites disagree on.

Finding Chromite

The wiki and paldb.cc agree on how to find it. Chromite sits in mining nodes that you locate with a Metal Detector or with a Smokie, and Feybreak Island is where both sites send you. The wiki says dungeons on Feybreak are the most common source.

Other sources both sites list:

• Silvegis drops. The Silvegis drops 2 to 3 Chromite at a 100% rate.
• Feybreak expeditions. Both list Feybreak expedition rewards as a source. The wiki names the Dark Cave of Feybreak, available after you defeat the Feybreak Tower.
• The "Arrogant Pal Critic" mission. Both list its reward as Chromite.

The wiki says no merchant sells Chromite and it cannot be crafted. paldb.cc lists no shop that sells it.

The two sites give very different yields per node, so this guide quotes none. Both do say that having a Smokie with you is part of the method.

Making Hexolite

Both sites describe Hexolite as an alloy of Chromite and Hexolite Quartz, unlocked at Technology level 58. They give the crafting station as the Gigantic Furnace (paldb.cc also lists the Ancient Furnace). They disagree on the quantities, so check the recipe on screen.

Hexolite Quartz. Both sites describe it with the same text, "A rare crystal found only in Feybreak", and list it as a rock you mine. Both also list Celesdir as dropping 2 to 3 at a 100% rate.

Hexolite from Pals. Both sites also list Neptilius as dropping 10 Hexolite at a 100% rate. paldb.cc adds Necromus and Paladius as 10-Hexolite drops too, which the wiki does not list.

What Hexolite is for

Both sites list it as an ingredient in the Advanced Chest and the Advanced Shield, plus various weapons, ammo and armour. Pocketpair's 1.0 notes also mention adjusting heat and cold resistance for Hexolite-tier and higher armour.

On your hosted server

Nothing here needs a mod. The World Settings tab has a Gathering rate slider in the Rates group, described as materials from trees, ore and bushes, and an Enemy loot rate slider for items dropped by defeated enemies. The other rates are in Palworld server settings explained.
