Find your Steam ID (SteamID64)
Find your 17-digit SteamID64 from your Steam profile, read other players' IDs from your panel, and paste them into admin and ban lists.
A SteamID64 is the number that identifies a Steam account. Valve describes the 64 bit ID as a 17 digit number and the format most commonly used. Game servers use it to say who is an admin, who is banned and who is allowed in, because a name can be changed and an ID cannot. Valve confirms that a SteamID can't be changed, even by Steam Support.
Find your own SteamID64
These are Valve's own steps, from Steam Support:
- Open your Steam Community profile.
- Select Edit Profile.
- Look at the address shown under the CUSTOM URL box. If you have never set a custom URL, it ends in your 64 bit ID, in the format
76561198#########. - If you did set a custom URL, delete the text in the CUSTOM URL box. The address listed below it then shows your 64 bit ID.
You only need to read the number, so there is nothing to save. Copy all 17 digits with no spaces.
Find another player's ID
If a friend is already on your server, you can often read their ID from the panel instead of asking them:
- Valheim: on the Players tab, open Online. Beside a player, Make admin and Ban fill in the ID for you.
- Garry's Mod: the Players tab lists who is on, and its admin and ban buttons use their SteamID for you. ULX commands that type an ID want the
STEAM_0:X:Yform rather than the 17 digit number. See Garry's Mod ULX admin commands. - Rust and Palworld: each has a command that shows the players connected to your server. The Rust and Palworld guides show where to run it.
Otherwise ask them to follow the steps above and send you the number.
Where you paste it
- Valheim: on the Players tab, open the Admins, Banned or Allowed only list, paste the ID into the Paste an ID box and select Add. Select How to find an ID for a reminder. Changes apply the next time the server starts. A crossplay (Xbox or Game Pass) player's ID looks like
Xbox_2535451158060505instead. - Rust: admin commands take the 17 digit ID. See Rust getting started.
- Palworld: the kick and ban commands take the Steam ID. See Palworld admin commands.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds doesn't use a Steam ID. It asks for My Player ID from the game's Settings, which you enter as Owner ID on the Startup tab. See RuneScape: Dragonwilds getting started.
If the ID is rejected
- Check there are 17 digits and nothing else: no spaces, no
steamcommunity.comtext, no quotes. - Make sure you copied the 64 bit number rather than a custom profile name.
- For Garry's Mod ULX commands, switch to the
STEAM_0:X:Yform.
