How to become a Palworld server admin
Find your admin password, log in with /AdminPassword, and use the commands that matter: broadcast, kick, ban, teleport, save and shutdown.
A Palworld dedicated server has no admin menu. You log in with a password in chat, and from then on a short list of slash commands does everything from kicking a griefer to saving the world before a restart.
Find your admin password
- Open your server in the dashboard.
- Go to the Startup tab (in the More group). The Admin Password was generated for your server when it was created and shows in its field there.
- To change it, edit the value there, press Save and restart the server. It takes 1 to 30 letters, numbers, dashes or underscores. The password is written into
PalWorldSettings.inion every boot, so editing the file directly does not work. Palworld server settings and best presets lists the other keys the panel manages this way.
Anyone with this password controls your server. Share it only with people you would hand the dashboard to, and never post it in your Discord.
Log in as admin in-game
- Join the server and open chat (Enter by default).
- Type
/AdminPassword <your password>and press Enter. The game confirms in chat and admin commands work until you disconnect.
You log in again after each reconnect. Other players cannot see that you are an admin, and there is no admin role to give: every admin uses the same password.
The commands you will actually use
Use the Steam ID (the 17-digit number from /ShowPlayers) rather than a player's name: names can contain spaces and can be changed, IDs cannot.
Run commands from the panel instead
The panel's Console tab sends commands to the server over RCON with the same admin password, so you do not need to be in the game. Type the command without the leading slash: ShowPlayers, Save, Shutdown 60 Restart_in_60_seconds. This is the easiest way to save and restart cleanly, and the Nightly restart with warnings card in the Schedules tab does the warning and the restart for you at a set time.
A word on bans
- A ban is stored in a plain text file on the server, typically
Pal/Saved/SaveGames/banlist.txt, one Steam ID per line. Back it up before a reinstall if your list matters, and you can edit it in the File Manager to unban someone while the server is stopped. - Banning does not remove the player's base or Pals. If they built somewhere awkward, deal with that in-game as an admin.
- Ban IDs, not names, and double-check the ID before you press Enter: the game gives no confirmation prompt.
Common problems
- Nothing happens after /AdminPassword - the password is case-sensitive, and a change in the Startup tab needs a server restart before the game knows about it.
- Commands work in chat but not in the panel Console - drop the slash. In-game commands start with
/, RCON commands do not. - Broadcast shows only the first word - use underscores instead of spaces.
- A kicked player is back in seconds - kick only disconnects. Use
/BanPlayerfor a repeat offender.
If none of these match, copy the exact command you typed and the exact reply you saw in chat or the Console, and include both when you contact support.
