Dragonwilds Mining: Pickaxes, Ores and Spells

Which pickaxe mines which ore and where, what each Mining level unlocks, and how Rocksplosion and Divine Rock work in Dragonwilds 1.0.

Updated 3 min read

In RuneScape: Dragonwilds, your pickaxe decides which ore you can break, and your Mining level decides which spells and perks you unlock. This guide covers the pickaxe ladder, where each ore is, what every Mining level unlocks and how the Divine Rock spell works.

Checked against RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0.1, October 2026.

The pickaxe decides, not your level

No ore is locked behind a Mining level. The official wiki's resource tables list the pickaxe each ore needs and no level, and the Mining unlock list has no ore on it. A higher-tier pickaxe breaks tougher nodes.

The official wiki lists the pickaxes, lowest to highest, as Stone, Bone, Bronze, Iron, Steel, Mithril, Adamant and Rune, and says the Rune pickaxe mines all available nodes.

Where each ore is

This table follows the official wiki's ore tables. Tin is left out because the wiki's entry for it is incomplete.

BluriteBronze or Iron (the wiki's two tables disagree)Takla Kara vault

MithrilSteelDowdun Reach

The wiki says stone and rune essence need only a Stone pickaxe and are found everywhere. Jagex's 1.0 notes confirm that Runite and Luminite, the two new ores in the Scorned Wilderness, need an Adamant pickaxe or greater.

The Mining spells

  • Rocksplosion breaks apart stone boulders and ore in a blast around you. Ultimate Burst widens it.
  • Summon Stone Spirits guides you to the nearest rocks you can mine.
  • Divine Rock turns five ore dropped on the ground into a personal mining vein. It costs 100 Earth runes and 100 Nature runes. Jagex's 1.0.1 notes say its cooldown was wrongly set to 1500 seconds instead of 1800, so older guides may show the lower figure. Luminite ore can be used for it since patch 1.0.0.5.

For how spells are unlocked and cast, see the RuneScape: Dragonwilds spell guide.

Common mistakes

  1. You can't mine a node - your pickaxe tier is below the one the ore needs. Check the table above.
  2. Searching the open world for Blurite - the wiki lists it in the Takla Kara vault.
  3. Expecting gems early - Gem Prospector starts at level 16.
