Set up a StoneBlock 3 server
Install FTB StoneBlock 3 on Forge 1.18.2 from the Modpacks tab with the Feed The Beast or CurseForge source, and match your players' pack version.
FTB StoneBlock 3 is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.18.2 from the Feed The Beast team. You start in a world of rock and stone and build a base underground with magic and technology, guided by quests and goals. You install it from the Modpacks tab with the Feed The Beast source, which installs 1.11.6. The CurseForge source installs it too, at 1.11.5.
Checked against FTB StoneBlock 3 1.11.6 from Feed The Beast and 1.11.5 from CurseForge, both on Forge 40.2.34 and Minecraft 1.18.2, October 2026. Both installs reached the For help, type line in the console.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.18.2 with Forge 40.2.34. Feed The Beast lists Java 17 for it. The panel chooses the Java version from the pack's Minecraft version, so there is nothing to set.
- Memory. Feed The Beast lists 4 GB as the minimum and 6 GB as the recommended amount. Your plan sets the RAM, so see how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans before you install.
- A pack version that matches your players. Feed The Beast's newest StoneBlock 3 is 1.11.6 and CurseForge's is 1.11.5, and each source installs its own newest. Players should run the same version as the server: 1.11.6 if you install from Feed The Beast, 1.11.5 if you install from CurseForge.
- StoneBlock 4 is a different pack. Pick the one named FTB StoneBlock 3.
Install the server
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Press the Feed The Beast source button, then search for
stoneblock. The list shows FTB StoneBlock 4 and FTB Presents Stoneblock 2 beside the pack you want. - Press Install on FTB StoneBlock 3. The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack and names the loader and Minecraft version. Check it reads Forge and 1.18.2.
- The popup has a version list. Leave it on Newest that fits your server, which installs 1.11.6. The list also holds older versions, down to 1.9.0, for players who run one.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start itself.
- Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait.
To install from CurseForge instead, press the CurseForge source button in step 2 and search for FTB StoneBlock 3. The popup shows Checking which of the pack's mods we can download for you... for a few seconds, and Install and reinstall stays unavailable until that line goes. Newest that fits your server installs 1.11.5 there.
The two sources build the server differently. The Feed The Beast source runs Feed The Beast's own server installer. CurseForge's API lists no separate server pack for StoneBlock 3, so the CurseForge source reads the pack's mod list instead and downloads each mod itself. The install console shows Reading the pack's mod list, then Downloading the pack's 222 mods, then 222 mods added (0 of them from Modrinth). That route leaves out resource packs and shaders, and after the install it turns off the mods it can tell are client only.
If the mod list names mods whose authors only allow downloads on CurseForge's own site, the popup lists them first and lets you upload them. Modpack mods to download from CurseForge covers that. Every file in the 1.11.5 list has a download link in CurseForge's API, and the popup lists no mods to download by hand, so none should be asked for.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks first with an Accept the Minecraft EULA popup and an Accept & start button. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type, and list then answers with the player count. The pack has more than 220 mods.
The pack's CurseForge page says the world and its biomes are built in concentric circles around your base, and that quests and goals guide you through the pack. Your address is in the left rail under Server address. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run the same pack version as the server, 1.11.6 from Feed The Beast or 1.11.5 from CurseForge, or reinstall the server on the version they have.
- The server lags or runs out of memory. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. If the RAM card stays full, move to a bigger plan.
- The server stops at boot with a mod error. The panel turns off client-only mods after the install where it can tell which they are. Both installs of this pack still reached the
For help, typeline, thoughlatest.logrecords some client-class errors during boot that did not stop the server. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod behind an error. - The install stops while unpacking or downloading. Your plan's disk may be too small, or the network failed. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
- A bug inside the pack. Feed The Beast takes modpack reports at https://go.ftb.team/support-modpack.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
