Set up a Scape and Run: Parasites server
Add the Scape and Run: Parasites mod to a Forge 1.12.2 server from the Mods tab, learn which build installs, and move to a newer alpha by SFTP.
Scape and Run: Parasites (SRP) is a Forge mod by Dhanantry for Minecraft 1.12.2. It adds hostile, parasite-themed mobs that can be found anywhere in the world, don't burn in daylight, and can learn from their fights and evolve. This guide puts it on a Forge 1.12.2 server using the Mods tab.
Checked against Scape and Run: Parasites 1.9.21 (beta) on Forge 1.12.2, October 2026. The 1.10.9 alpha is read from the mod's Modrinth page and was not run on a test server.
What the mod needs
- Forge on Minecraft 1.12.2. The mod's Modrinth page lists Forge and 1.12.2 only, and no required dependencies. The panel runs Minecraft 1.12.2 on Java 8 for you.
- Players with the same mod. Everyone who joins needs Forge 1.12.2 and the same SRP version as the server.
- Know which version you are getting. Every build since 1.10.1 (February 2026) is marked alpha. The newest beta is 1.9.21, from May 2024. When you press Install, the store takes the newest release, then the newest beta, then the newest alpha, so on this mod it installs 1.9.21. That jar is about 27 MB. The 1.10.9 jar is about 117 MB.
Switch the server to Forge 1.12.2
Skip this part if the server already runs Forge 1.12.2.
- Open JAR Manager under More in the left rail.
- Set Server software to Forge and Minecraft version to 1.12.2.
- Press Apply change. The panel warns that the change reinstalls the server and may reset configuration files.
- In the "Reinstall server?" box, leave Take a backup first ticked and hold Confirm & reinstall until it fills. Your world is kept.
The panel installs the recommended Forge build for 1.12.2. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader covers the tab in full.
Install the mod
- Open the Mods tab under Content. On a mod loader the add-on tab carries this name.
- In the Store view, press the Modrinth source button and search for
Scape and Run. - Press Install on Scape and Run: Parasites. Several add-ons for the mod appear in the results, so check the name.
- Restart the server from the Console tab. The panel does not do this for you: the toast after the install says "Restart the server to load it."
Run a newer alpha build instead
- Download
SRParasites-1.10.9.jarfrom the mod's Modrinth or CurseForge page. - In Mods, switch to Installed, press the trash icon on the 1.9.21 build, then confirm Delete.
- Upload the jar to the
modsfolder over SFTP. At about 117 MB it is over the browser upload limit of 100 MB per file. Connect over SFTP walks through it. - Delete the
config/srparasitesfolder with File Manager before you start. The 1.10.8 and 1.10.9 changelogs both tell you to regenerate that folder. - Start the server and tell players to install the same build.
First start and common problems
- Check the mod loaded. Start the server and watch the Console. In Mods, Installed, a "Failed to load" badge on the mod means it did not start. The badge appears only when the server log shows the failure, so a mod that fails silently may carry no badge. Find and read a crash report helps name the cause.
- Avoid JEID and REID. The 1.9.21 changelog says the mod warns in the logs if either is installed, because of a known incompatibility.
- A player cannot join. Check they run Forge 1.12.2 and the same SRP version.
- Lag with many mobs. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. Why is my server lagging has more.
Create a backup before you move between 1.9.x and 1.10.x, because the 1.10.8 and 1.10.9 changelogs tell you to regenerate the srparasites config folder. Create and restore backups shows how.
