Set up a Reclamation server

Install the Reclamation 1.20.1 Forge modpack from CurseForge with its server pack, then check memory, Java, player setup and fixes for common problems.

Updated 3 min read

Reclamation is a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge modpack set in a barren world with no ores, so progress comes from processing, automation and farming mods instead of mining. Its CurseForge page publishes a dedicated server pack, which means the Modpacks tab can install it directly.

Checked against Reclamation 2.3.2 on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge, October 2026.

What you are installing

The pack's page calls it a semi-expert pack with 500+ handwritten quests, and names mods such as Mekanism, Blood Magic, Embers Rekindled, Enchanted: Witchcraft, Nature's Aura, Mystical Agriculture, AgriCraft and Complicated Bees. Reclamation 2.3.2 was uploaded in early June 2026, and its server pack, Reclamation-Server-2.3.2-hotfix.zip, followed a few days later. That is the file our panel fetches. It is about 590 MB.

Take care with the name. CurseForge also lists Reclamation - Hardcore Edition and Reclamation - Vessels Of Raven, which are different packs. You want Reclamation - Reclaim the World!.

Memory and Java

The pack's page gives no RAM figure, so size the server by watching it. Start with a plan that suits a large modpack (How much RAM does a Minecraft server need?, and the plans on /games/minecraft). The heap is set from your plan's RAM and cannot be edited.

Java is chosen for you from the Minecraft version. Minecraft 1.20.1 runs on Java 17.

Install it

  1. If the server holds a world you want to keep, open Backups and click Create backup. The install reinstalls the server, and the popup warns that your current world is replaced by the pack's.
  2. Open the Modpacks tab, under Content in the panel menu.
  3. Press the CurseForge source button, then search for Reclamation.
  4. Click Install on Reclamation - Reclaim the World!.
  5. In the popup, leave Take a backup first ticked. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to boot after the install. If the server has not accepted the Minecraft EULA yet, an I agree to the Minecraft EULA box appears once you tick that option, and you need to tick it too.
  6. Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait. The server reinstalls, which can take a few minutes.

If you did not tick the start option, press Start on the Console tab.

Players

Players install the pack on their own computer and join with your server address. The project's README on GitHub says to import the release zip under My Modpacks in the CurseForge app. Your address sits under your server's name at the top of the panel, with a copy button beside it, and a wide screen labels it Server address (Connect to your server for the first time).

Use the Players tab for a whitelist (Whitelist players and set operators).

First run

The pack's page describes a world with no ores, where a questbook guides the progression. Tell new players to open it first, because mining will not get them far.

Common problems

  • The install says your plan's disk may be too small: the server pack needs room for the download and the unpacked files. Use Disk Analyser to check usage, or look at a bigger plan.
  • The server runs out of memory or lags: watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail and read Why is my server lagging?.
  • You want to leave the pack: open the Modpacks tab and use Remove modpack, pick the software and version to reinstall as, and hold Remove and reinstall until it fills. The pack's world is replaced, so keep Take a backup first ticked if you might want it back.
