Set up a Mystical Block server
Install the Mystical Block skyblock pack from the Modpacks tab, keep its skyblock world type and help players join on version 2.7.3.
Mystical Block is a skyblock-style Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.16.5 built around Mystical Agriculture. The project page says players start with one inferium seed, a wooden hoe and some bread, then grow new seeds and work through the pack's quests. This guide installs it from the Modpacks tab, explains the one setting not to touch, and covers how players join.
Checked against Mystical Block 2.7.3 (Minecraft 1.16.5, Forge), October 2026.
What it needs
- Forge on Minecraft 1.16.5. The newest file on CurseForge is Mystical Block Version 2.7.3, released in January 2024. It has a separate server pack,
Mystical_Block_server_pack_273.zip, about 265 MB, which the Modpacks tab installs for you. The pack'svariables.txtnames Forge 36.2.34. - Java 8. The panel picks Java from the Minecraft version, and 1.16.5 gets Java 8.
- RAM. The author's server pack sets a 4 GB Java heap. Choose a plan with 4 GB of RAM or more, matching the author's heap, on Minecraft hosting.
- Free disk space. The zip downloads onto your server's disk before it is unpacked, so keep room for the zip and then the unpacked pack.
- The right pack. Other projects have similar names: Mystical Block 2 by Daviyera and Mystical Block Reloaded by RTSCreations. This guide covers Mystical Block by MonicoIsCool.
Install it on your server
Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server and replaces the current world, so use a new server or one you can wipe.
- Open Backups and click Create backup.
- Open Modpacks, under Content in the left rail. Above the results, choose the CurseForge chip, next to Modrinth.
- Search for
Mystical Blockand pick the row by MonicoIsCool with the 1.16.5 and Forge badges. - Click Install. A window titled Install Mystical Block? opens.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Leave Keep my world, settings and player lists unticked if it appears: that option puts your old
server.propertiesback over the pack's, and this pack needs its own. Leave Start the server when it's ready unticked, so you can start the server yourself once the install has finished. The EULA box only appears when Start is ticked, so accept the EULA at your first Start on the Console tab instead, if the window appears. - Press and hold Install and reinstall, then watch the Console tab. A progress bar fills as the install runs, and it finishes at 100% with the message Installed. Start the server whenever you are ready.
Leave the world type alone
The pack ships its own server.properties. In it, level-type is set to skyblockbuilder:custom_skyblock, which is what makes the world a skyblock. The World type list in the Config Editor has no option for it, so do not change World type there. The Config Editor rewrites only the settings you change, so you can edit other settings in it and the pack's line stays as it is.
The same file already sets allow-flight=true, which flying mods need. When the install has finished, press Start on the Console tab and accept the EULA if the window appears.
Join the server
- In the CurseForge app, install Mystical Block. Version 2.7.3 is the newest on its page.
- Add your server in the multiplayer list with the address in the left rail. Connect to your server for the first time shows where it is.
The pack page says the goal is to finish every quest, and that FTB Chunks is included so you can chunk-load your farms. Use Operators in the Players tab to give yourself commands (Whitelist players and set operators).
Updating later
A CurseForge pack has no Update to button, because that button only checks Modrinth packs, and a pack that is already installed shows Installed instead of Install. To move to a newer version, take a backup, press Remove modpack, then install the new version.
Common problems
- The console says no CurseForge server pack is available. Check you picked the pack by MonicoIsCool, not a similarly named project.
- The world is not a skyblock. The
level-typeline was changed or lost. Restore the pack's value in File Manager before the world is first generated. - The install stops while unpacking. The message says your plan's disk may be too small. Free some space and install again.
Installing a modpack replaces the server's current files. Take a backup first.
