Install the Builders Crafts & Additions mod
Add Builders Crafts & Additions to a Forge or NeoForge server from the Mods tab, and avoid the block ID break between version 1 and version 2 worlds.
Builders Crafts & Additions adds storage and decorative blocks meant to blend into vanilla builds, such as furniture, shelves, counters and support beams. It is a Forge and NeoForge mod, and both the server and every player need it. This guide covers installing it from the Mods tab and avoiding the one trap in its version history.
Checked against Builders Crafts & Additions 2.1.2 on NeoForge 1.21.1, October 2026.
What it needs
- Forge or NeoForge. The mod has no Fabric build. Its newest file is 2.1.2 for NeoForge on Minecraft 1.21.1. For Forge, the newest build is 2.1.0 for Minecraft 1.21, and there is a Forge build for 1.20.1 as well.
- No Minecraft 26.x build. Both the Modrinth and CurseForge pages stop at 1.21.1, so pick 1.21.1 or earlier in JAR Manager.
- No other required mods. Just Enough Items (JEI) is optional, and it is handy for players because the author says recipes change and points to JEI for the current ones.
- Both sides. Modrinth marks it as required on the client and the server, so players need the same mod.
If your server runs Paper or Fabric, switch first: open JAR Manager under More and choose NeoForge or Forge (Change your Minecraft version or mod loader). Switching reinstalls the server and keeps your world, but some configuration files can reset, so make a backup in the Backups tab first.
Install it
- Open the Mods tab, under Content in the panel menu, and keep the Modrinth chip selected.
- Search for
Builders Crafts. Choose Builders Crafts & Additions by mrh0. - Click Install on its row. The store picks the build that matches your server's loader and version.
- Press Restart on the Console tab, or Start if the server is stopped.
Open the Mods tab and click Installed to check it. The row should have no Failed to load badge. If the console shows an error on boot, read Fix Minecraft mod and plugin load errors.
Version warning
The mod's page warns that version 2.x.x is not a drop-in replacement for 1.x.x, because the block IDs changed. It says not to replace 1.x.x with 2.x.x in saves created with 1.x.x. So for an existing world built with an older Builders Crafts & Additions, keep the version that world used, and make a backup before any update.
For a new world, take the newest build for your Minecraft version.
Getting the blocks
The 2.x builds add a Carpenter's Table, and the changelog says it is used to craft all the other blocks in the mod. The author points to JEI for the current recipes. The 1.20.1 Forge build is older than version 2, so its block set differs.
Players
Players need the same mod. Modrinth publishes it as separate files for each loader and Minecraft version, so they take the file tagged for your server's loader and version, for example NeoForge 1.21.1 for 2.1.2. They can get it from Modrinth or CurseForge. Modrinth lists it as required on the client.
Common problems
- It does not show up in the search: the Game version filter starts on your server's version and the Loader filter on its loader. A Fabric server or a Minecraft 26.x server returns nothing, so switch the loader or version in JAR Manager.
- Blocks vanished after you changed the mod's version: the 1.x to 2.x block ID change above is the likely cause. Restore the backup you made before the change from the Backups tab, using Restore on its row (Create and restore backups).
