Set up an Attack of the B-Team server
Install Attack of the B-Team on Minecraft 1.6.4 from the Modpacks tab's Technic source, match the 1.0.12c client build, then start it.
Attack of the B-Team is a large Minecraft 1.6.4 modpack that Technic lists as an official pack on the Technic Platform. Its mod list includes Galacticraft, Flan's Mod, Witchery, Thermal Expansion and Tinkers' Construct. Technic lists a ready-to-run server download for it, which the Modpacks tab installs through its Technic search source.
Checked against Attack of the B-Team, server download v1.0.12c (Minecraft 1.6.4), October 2026.
What it needs
- Minecraft 1.6.4 with Forge. The server download carries a Forge launch jar named
BTeam.jar, a Minecraft 1.6.4 server jar and a mods folder. The panel picks Java 8 for 1.6.4 and switches it for you. Technic's build record for the pack names Java 1.7 as its requirement, but when this guide was checked the pack started on the panel's Java 8 by itself after the install and reached itsDoneline. - RAM. Technic's build record for 1.0.12c asks for 2 GB, and the server's own
launch.shsets a 3 GB heap. The panel ignores that script and sizes the heap from your plan, so pick a plan with 4 GB or more on Minecraft hosting. The panel keeps 10 percent of the plan's RAM back for the system, at least 512 MB, so a 4 GB plan gives Java about 3.5 GB, above that 3 GB heap. How much RAM a Minecraft server needs explains the sizing. - Disk space. The download is about 137 MB and unpacks to about 152 MB.
- The right build on every client. The server download is v1.0.12c. Technic's recommended build of the pack is 1.0.12d and its newest is 1.0.13d, so players must pick build 1.0.12c in the Technic Launcher.
Install the pack
Installing a modpack reinstalls the whole server and replaces the current world, so use a new server or one you can wipe.
- Open Modpacks, under Content in the left rail. Press the Technic source button.
- Search for
Attack of the B-Team. Technic also lists many community remakes with similar names, so choose the row named exactly Attack of the B-Team. A pack with no server download shows No server download instead of Install. - Press Install. The window reads Forge, Minecraft 1.6.4.
- Keep Take a backup first ticked, which takes the backup for you. The install clears the old server files, so your current settings are replaced unless the window offers Keep my world, settings and player lists and you tick it. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start by itself, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA if that box appears.
- Press and hold the Hold to Install and reinstall button for about three seconds, until it fills, then watch the Console tab.
The panel downloads the server zip and unpacks it. It finds BTeam.jar from the pack's own launch.sh, which stays in the server's files unchanged. The install log then reads Launch script written. Heap sizes from your plan's RAM, Aikar's flags on.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab and accept the Minecraft EULA if the window appears. Wait until the console stops printing and the server shows as running. When this guide was checked, the pack loaded 116 mods on Forge Mod Loader 6.4.49.965 and the console printed Done (5.966s)! For help, type "help" or "?". Your address is in the left rail under Server address: Connect to your server for the first time.
The pack's server.properties sets level-type=BIOMESOP, so leave World type alone in the Config Editor. Run op yourname in the Console to give yourself operator rights.
Join the server
- In the Technic Launcher, search for Attack of the B-Team and install it.
- Open Modpack Options from the pack's banner. Under Select Version, choose A Specific Version instead of Recommended Version, then pick 1.0.12c from the list beside it.
- Add your server in the multiplayer list with the address from the left rail.
Common problems
- The install says "Couldn't start a backup. Free a backup slot, or untick the backup and try again." Delete a backup you no longer need under Backups (a protected backup has to be unprotected first), or untick Take a backup first, then try the install again.
- Mod mismatch on join. The player's build differs from 1.0.12c. Pick that build in the launcher.
- The install says Technic has no server download. The link may have moved, or Technic did not answer. Your files were left alone, so try again in a few minutes.
- The server lags or runs out of memory. Watch the RAM Usage card on the Console tab, and see Why is my server lagging.
Installing a modpack replaces the server's current files. Take a backup first.
