Set up an After The Nukes server
Install the Fallout style After The Nukes pack on Forge 1.20.1, which has no server files, handle CurseForge only mods and use its bundled world.
After The Nukes is a Forge modpack for Minecraft 1.20.1 that takes its post-apocalyptic setting from the Fallout series. Its page describes a large pack of missions, trading systems and dungeons. It publishes no dedicated server pack, only the client download, so the panel builds the server from the pack's mod list instead. That changes a few steps compared with a pack that ships server files.
Checked against After The Nukes 1.3.0 on Forge 47.4.10, Minecraft 1.20.1, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.10. The pack's mod list names that Forge build, and the panel installs it for you. It sets Java 17 for 1.20.1 on its own.
- Memory. The pack's page gives no RAM figure. Its mod list has 30 files, so how much RAM a Minecraft server needs is the place to size it. The Minecraft plans show what you can pick.
- The same pack for every player. Each player installs After The Nukes 1.3.0 from its CurseForge page or the CurseForge app.
Install the pack
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- In the source chip row at the top of the tab, press CurseForge and search for
After The Nukes. - Press Install on After The Nukes. The popup may check the pack's mods for a moment, then says it reinstalls your server with the pack (Forge, Minecraft 1.20.1).
- If the popup lists mods that need you to download them first, their authors only allow downloads from CurseForge's own site. Download each one and drop it into the popup, or tick Install without them (add them later from this tab). Modpack mods to download from CurseForge walks through it.
- Keep Take a backup first ticked, then press Install and reinstall.
The panel downloads each listed mod from CurseForge, or the identical file from Modrinth where CurseForge does not hand it out. It leaves out mods that Modrinth marks as client-only, because Forge servers load them and often crash. The pack's configs are copied into place.
Use the pack's world
The pack bundles a world in a saves folder, the place single-player Minecraft keeps its worlds. After the install that folder sits in your server's files, and the server does not load it by itself: a Minecraft server loads the folder named by World folder in the Config Editor, which defaults to world. To play on the bundled world, do this before the first Start:
- Open File Manager, then the
savesfolder. - Select the After The Nukes folder, choose Move to…, enter
/as the Destination folder and press Move. - Select the moved folder, choose Rename, and call it
world.
If you have already started the server once, a world folder exists, so move or delete it first.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab and accept the Minecraft EULA if the panel asks. When the console prints a line ending in For help, type "help", the server is up. Your address is in the left rail under Server address. Connect to your server for the first time shows how to add it in Minecraft.
Common problems
- Players can't join with a mod mismatch. Their pack is not 1.3.0. Match the version.
- Mods are missing. If you installed without the mods that only CurseForge hands out, add them from the Modpacks tab, which lists them under your installed pack, then restart.
- Your world did not change. The server is loading
world, not the bundled one. Follow the steps above.
