Set up the OccultCraft server
Install the OccultCraft 6.8 fantasy modpack on a Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge server from the Modpacks tab, plus how to give its voice chat a port.
OccultCraft is a fantasy and medieval modpack by the CurseForge author ultixon, built around bosses, magic and fun. Its 6th edition runs on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's CurseForge server pack.
Checked against OccultCraft 6.8 (the CurseForge file dated 18 July 2024) on Forge 47.2.5 and Minecraft 1.20.1, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.2.5. The server pack carries Forge 1.20.1-47.2.5 in its
librariesfolder. Minecraft 1.20.1 runs on Java 17, which the panel picks for you. - Memory. The author's page says "I'd recommend at least 6GB of RAM for a server with OccultCraft installed". Your plan sets the RAM, so see how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
- Disk space. The server pack is a download of about 859 MB and unpacks to about 922 MB, and the download sits on your disk while it unpacks.
- The same pack version for players. Players install OccultCraft 6.8 from the CurseForge app.
The pack's page covers several editions, one each for Minecraft 1.16, 1.18, 1.19 and 1.20. The 6th edition is the newest, and the page still labels it a beta.
Install the server
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Above the search box, press the CurseForge chip, then search for
OccultCraft. - Pick OccultCraft by ultixon and press Install. The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start itself, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA if the popup shows it.
- Press and hold Hold to Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
CurseForge lists the 6.8 file for Minecraft 1.20 to 1.20.6, so the popup may name a version such as 1.20.2. The server pack's own Forge files are for 1.20.1, and those decide what starts. The zip nests everything in a folder called OC6.7SP, and the install moves it up to the server's root. It also finds the launch files the pack ships, so nothing is downloaded for Forge.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is in the left rail under Server address. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft, and joining a modded server from a launcher covers the client side.
Voice chat
The pack includes Simple Voice Chat. Its mod page says voice chat needs a port of its own, 24454 UDP by default, which can be changed in the server config, and the pack's config/voicechat/voicechat-server.properties sets port=24454. If your plan includes extra ports, add one under Settings then Network ports, set port in that file to the new number and restart. How to add an extra port explains the card.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run OccultCraft 6.8 on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge, then compare their mod list with the server's
modsfolder. - The install stops while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
- The server lags. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. Why is my server lagging has more.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
