Set up the Jetpack Cat server
Install the Jetpack Cat gun modpack on a Minecraft 1.16.5 Forge server from the Modpacks tab, with its Java 8 needs and shipped server settings.
Jetpack Cat is a gun-heavy story and exploration modpack for Minecraft 1.16.5 on Forge, by the CurseForge author jetpackcatyt. Its page describes hordes of fast monsters, Lycanites mobs, bosses, Black Market quests and a hunt for 12 eyes of ender to reach The End. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, using the pack's CurseForge server pack.
Checked against Jetpack Cat v6.0 (the CurseForge file dated 20 September 2024) on Forge 36.2.42 and Minecraft 1.16.5, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge 36.2.42. The server pack's
variables.txtnames both. Minecraft 1.16.5 runs on Java 8, which the panel picks for you. - Memory. The pack's page gives a figure only for players: run it on 4 to 5 GB of memory allocated to Minecraft. It gives none for a server, and the server pack holds 202 mod jars. Your plan sets the RAM, so see how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and the Minecraft plans.
- Disk space. The server pack is a download of about 421 MB and unpacks to about 462 MB, and the download sits on your disk while it unpacks.
- The same pack version for players. Players install Jetpack Cat v6.0 from the CurseForge app.
Install the server
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- Above the search box, press the CurseForge chip, then search for
Jetpack Cat. - Pick Jetpack Cat - Epic Monsters, Guns and Combat by jetpackcatyt and press Install. The popup says it reinstalls your server with the pack and names Forge and Minecraft 1.16.5.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Tick Start the server when it's ready if you want it to start itself, and tick I agree to the Minecraft EULA if the popup shows it.
- Press and hold Hold to Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
The pack ships no Forge files of its own, so the install reads variables.txt and sets up Forge 36.2.42 itself, on the Java 8 image.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is in the left rail under Server address. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft, and joining a modded server from a launcher covers the client side.
Settings the pack ships
The server pack includes its own server.properties, and the install keeps it. It sets max-players=10, allow-flight=true and max-tick-time=120000. In Config Editor those are Player slots, Allow flight and Watchdog timeout (ms). Raise Player slots if more than ten friends will play.
The pack's 6.0 changelog also notes that quests with a delay before you can claim them again now reset when you rejoin the world. Earlier, a server crash could leave them unclaimable.
Common problems
- A player cannot join. Check they run Jetpack Cat v6.0 on Minecraft 1.16.5 with Forge, then compare their mod list with the server's
modsfolder. - The install stops while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
- The server lags. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. Why is my server lagging has more.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
