Set up the Create: Astral modpack server
Install the Create: Astral tech modpack on a Minecraft 1.18.2 Fabric server from the Modpacks tab, plus the one Vinery mod you add by hand.
Create: Astral is a tech and automation pack built around the Create mod on Fabric, for Minecraft 1.18.2. Its CurseForge page describes quest chapters that lead from Create machines out to a customised Moon, Mars and Mercury. You install the server from the Modpacks tab, then add one mod by hand, because the pack's CurseForge server files leave it out.
Checked against Create: Astral v2.1.5b (the CurseForge file dated 23 August 2026) on Fabric loader 0.18.4 and Minecraft 1.18.2, October 2026.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.18.2 with Fabric. The server files' launcher names Fabric loader 0.18.4 and game version 1.18.2. The pack's own notes say Java 17 is required. The panel runs 1.18.2 on Java 17 and picks it for you.
- Memory. The pack's server notes ask for at least 4 GB and say 4 GB is generally enough for 1 to 4 players. Your plan sets the RAM, so read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install.
- Disk space. The server files are a download of about 389 MB and unpack to about 435 MB. The download sits on your plan's disk while it unpacks, so you need room for both.
- A client install of the pack. The extra mod comes from a player's copy of Create: Astral, as the next section explains.
- The same pack version for players. Players should run v2.1.5b from the CurseForge app.
Install the server files
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail.
- In the search card, press the CurseForge button in the row of sources, then search for
Create: Astral. - Press Install on Create: Astral.
- Leave Take a backup first ticked. Your current world is replaced by the pack's. Leave Start the server when it's ready unticked, add Vinery below, then press Start yourself.
- Hold Install and reinstall until it fills, then wait for the install to finish.
The server files carry a server.jar that is Fabric's own launcher. The panel starts the pack with that jar and Fabric fetches its libraries on the first start.
Add Vinery by hand
The pack's server notes say the CurseForge server files need one extra step. The Astral Vinery mod requires Vinery, and CurseForge's rules keep archived mods out of server packs, so vinery-1.1.4.jar is not in the download.
- Install Create: Astral on your own computer. The pack is published on CurseForge, so install it with the CurseForge app.
- Open that instance's
modsfolder and copyvinery-1.1.4.jar. - In your server's File Manager, open the
modsfolder and press Upload (an icon on a phone) and choose the jar, or drag it onto the file list. It is about 2.5 MB, well under the 100 MB browser limit.
Do this before the first start. The pack's notes list two symptoms of leaving it out: a message that Astral Vinery requires Vinery, and missing icons in the Quest Book.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab and accept the EULA if the panel asks. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is in the left rail with a copy button beside it. The Server address label shows on wide screens only. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft.
Common problems
- A message says Astral Vinery requires Vinery. The jar from the previous section is missing from
mods. - A log warning says Yttr and Roughly Enough Items are not compatible. The pack's notes say this is only a warning and the cause lies elsewhere.
- The server crashes at boot. The pack's notes point to the Java version for an instant crash and to extra mods you added for a crash after 30 seconds or more of setup. The panel sets Java 17 for you, so look at added mods first. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
- The install stops while unpacking. Your plan's disk may be too small. Check Disk Analyser, clear space and install again.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
