Set up the Craftoria modpack server
Install Craftoria on a Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge server from its CurseForge client file, then remove the six client mods its team skips.
Craftoria is a NeoForge modpack for Minecraft 1.21.1 by TeamAOE. Its CurseForge page lists more than 500 mods and 2,000 quests across automation, magic, exploration and building, with dynamic seasons. This guide installs it from the pack's client file, because the server download on CurseForge does not contain the mods.
Checked against Craftoria 1.37.0 (the CurseForge file dated 13 September 2026) on NeoForge 21.1.249 and Minecraft 1.21.1, October 2026.
Why this pack installs from the client file
When a CurseForge pack lists a server pack, the Modpacks tab installs that. Craftoria publishes a server download of about 8 KB, Craftoria-Server-1.37.0.zip. It holds a start script and a server-setup-config.yaml for the ServerStarter launcher, which downloads the pack itself the first time it runs. The panel does not run ServerStarter, so installing Craftoria from the CurseForge search would give you a NeoForge server without the pack's mods.
The client file, Craftoria-1.37.0.zip, is different. It is a list of the pack's mods plus its configs and scripts. The panel can read that list, download each mod and add the configs, the same way it handles other CurseForge packs that have no server pack.
Craftoria 2 - Worlds Beyond is a separate project on CurseForge. This guide covers the original Craftoria.
What the pack needs
- Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge 21.1.249. The panel reads both from the client file's mod list. The server readme says Java 21 or 25 is required, and the panel picks Java 21 for 1.21.1, as the next section shows.
- Memory. The CurseForge page gives no figure. The pack's
server-setup-config.yamlsets a 5 GB maximum heap and a 3 GB minimum for its own launcher. The panel does not use that file. It sizes the heap from your plan's RAM at every start. Read how much RAM a Minecraft server needs and check the Minecraft plans before you install. - A file on your computer. Download
Craftoria-1.37.0.zip, about 66 MB, from the Files tab of the Craftoria page on CurseForge. Pick the main file, not the one named Server. - Disk space. The installer downloads about 1.1 GB of mods on top of the pack file.
- The same pack version for players. This guide installs 1.37.0, the newest version on the CurseForge page. Players should run that version.
Switch the server to NeoForge 1.21.1 first
- Open your server and choose JAR Manager under More in the left rail.
- Under Server software, pick NeoForge. Under Minecraft version, pick 1.21.1.
- Press Apply change. Leave Take a backup first ticked and hold Confirm & reinstall until it fills. Wait for the install to finish.
A server switched to 1.21.1 here runs on Java 21 and keeps that setting through the pack install.
Install the pack
- Open your server and choose Modpacks under Content in the left rail. If there is no Install your own pack card, that option is not switched on for your account yet. Contact support and name this pack.
- In the Install your own pack card, drop
Craftoria-1.37.0.ziponto the box that says Drop a .mrpack or a server-pack .zip. Nothing installs until you press the install button. - Leave Take a backup first ticked. Tick Keep my world, settings and player lists only if you want to keep the world you have now. Otherwise the pack's world replaces it.
- Press Install and reinstall, then hold the confirm button in the window that opens.
- Open the Console and watch the install. The pack's list has 560 files.
The panel downloads the pack's mods from CurseForge or Modrinth and leaves out client-side files a server does not use. One mod, Apothic Nerf, only allows downloads from CurseForge's own site, so the panel cannot add it for you. Once the install ends, the Modpacks tab lists it under the installed pack, with a Download from CurseForge button and a box to drop the downloaded file onto. When the last mod is in, the panel offers Restart now. Modpack mods to download from CurseForge covers that step.
Remove six client-side mods
The server-setup-config.yaml in the small server download lists 27 projects the pack team skips on a server. Six of them are in the pack's list and the panel installs them: Extreme Sound Muffler, SeasonHUD, Particle Effects Reforged, FancyMenu, Konkrete and Melody. To match the pack team's setup, delete them once the install ends:
- Open File Manager and go into the
modsfolder. - Delete
ExtremeSoundMuffler-3.56_NeoForge-1.21.jar,seasonhud-neoforge-1.21.1-2.0.10.jar,particle_effects-1.21.1-NeoForge-1.0.2.jar,fancymenu_neoforge_3.9.12_MC_1.21.1.jar,konkrete_neoforge_1.9.9_MC_1.21.jarandmelody_neoforge_1.0.10_MC_1.21.jar.
Add Just Enough Items
The panel leaves Just Enough Items (JEI) out of the install, because it counts it as a client-side file. Two of the pack's server mods still need it: without JEI the first start stops with Mod mekagenjei requires jei and Currently, jei is not installed. Add it before you start:
- Open the Mods tab under Content. Above the search box, press the Modrinth chip.
- Search for Just Enough Items and press Install.
- Just Enough Items needs MezzConfig as well. If a window offers to install it too, press Install all. Otherwise search for MezzConfig and install it the same way.
First start
Press Start on the Console tab. If the EULA has not been accepted yet, the panel asks you to accept it first. The server is up when the console prints a line containing For help, type. Your address is in the left rail under Server address. Connect to your server for the first time covers adding it in Minecraft.
Common problems
- The server has no mods after the install. It was installed from the small server download instead of the client file. Install again from the Install your own pack card with the main file.
- The server stops at boot and names
jei. Just Enough Items is missing. Install it from the Mods tab as shown above. - A player cannot join. Check they run Craftoria 1.37.0, then compare their mod list with the server's
modsfolder. - The server lags or runs out of memory. Watch the RAM card on the Console tab and the TPS reading in the left rail. Why is my server lagging has more.
- The server crashes at boot. Find and read a crash report shows how to name the mod at fault.
Installing a pack reinstalls your server. If you have a world you care about, keep Take a backup first ticked.
