Merge Bandit Camp and Outpost on Rust

Rust has no setting to merge Bandit Camp and Outpost. Use a custom map, or add the Big Wheel and edit vendors at Outpost with plugins.

Updated 4 min read

Some server owners want Outpost and Bandit Camp as one place instead of two. Rust has no setting that merges the two monuments: searching the server's convar list for bandit and outpost finds nothing. You get close in one of two ways. Use a custom map built with the monuments together, or add the missing pieces to Outpost with plugins. Checked against Monument Addons 0.21.5 (2 October 2026), Monument Finder 3.1.5 and Custom Vending Setup 2.17.4 (1 October 2026) on uMod, October 2026.

Route 1: a custom map

Facepunch's wiki lists two map editors, RustEdit and Rust Map Editor, and both edit prefabs. If you want the two monuments together as one place, you need a map built that way, or to build one yourself. Host the .map file at a direct download link and follow How to add a custom map to your Rust server. Remember that a custom map replaces the procedural one.

Route 2: add pieces to Outpost with plugins

This route keeps your procedural map. It does not combine the two monuments into one. It adds extras to Outpost, and you decide which. It needs Oxide or Carbon, which How to install Oxide/uMod plugins on your Rust server sets up.

Monument Addons

Monument Addons, by WhiteThunder, is described on uMod as adding entities, spawn points and more to monuments. It needs the Monument Finder plugin loaded, and says Error: Monument Finder is not loaded. if it isn't.

  1. In the Plugins tab, Store, install Monument Finder and Monument Addons.
  2. On Oxide, newly installed plugins stay unloaded until the server restarts or you load each one in the Console with oxide.load MonumentFinder and oxide.load MonumentAddons. On Carbon they load by themselves. In Installed, each row shows Loaded once it is running.
  3. Grant yourself the permission from the Console. A permission only exists once its plugin is loaded, so do this after step 2:
oxide.grant user "YourName" monumentaddons.admin

On Carbon, oxide.grant prints nothing and does nothing. Use c.grant with the same arguments instead, and do the same for the Custom Vending Setup permission below:

c.grant user "YourName" monumentaddons.admin
  1. Join the server. Monument Addons saves what you spawn into a profile, and a fresh install starts with a profile called Default selected, so you can carry on. To keep your Outpost changes in their own profile, create one in chat. If the Default profile has been disabled, spawning fails with Error: No profile selected.
/maprofile create outpost-extras
  1. Stand inside Outpost and look at the spot where you want the entity. Spawn it with its short prefab name. The Big Wheel's is big_wheel:
/maspawn big_wheel

The plugin replies that it spawned the entity at the matching monument and saved it to your profile. If the name matches more than one prefab, the plugin lists the matches. /mahelp lists every command, including /mashow to see nearby addons and /makill to delete one.

Custom Vending Setup

Outpost's vending machines sell their own items. Custom Vending Setup is described as allowing edits to the orders at NPC vending machines. This is how you copy another monument's deals onto Outpost's machines.

  1. Install Custom Vending Setup from the Store. On Oxide, restart or run oxide.load CustomVendingSetup so it loads. On Carbon it loads by itself.
  2. Grant the permission from the Console:
oxide.grant user "YourName" customvendingsetup.use

On Carbon, run c.grant user "YourName" customvendingsetup.use instead.

  1. In game, open a vending machine at Outpost. The plugin adds an EDIT button to its screen.
  2. Change the FOR SALE and COST lists, and the SETTINGS such as Max Stock, Seconds Between Refills, Refill Amount and Shop Name.
  3. Press SAVE to keep your changes, or CANCEL to discard them.
Tip

Take a backup from the Backups tab before you start, so a mistake with a profile or a vending machine is easy to undo.

Common problems

  1. "Monument Finder is not loaded" - install Monument Finder from the Store, load it (restart or oxide.load MonumentFinder on Oxide) and check it shows Loaded in Installed.
  2. "You don't have permission to do that" - the permission isn't granted to your user. Run the oxide.grant line again (c.grant on Carbon) and check the spelling.
  3. "Not at a monument" - the spot you are looking at must be inside a monument's bounds. Walk closer and look at a surface inside Outpost. Error: No valid surface found. means you are looking at nothing solid.
  4. You want a different monument set - for a map with none, see How to run a Rust server with no monuments.
