Install the Trash Cans mod on your server
Install Trash Cans 1.1.1 on a NeoForge 1.21.1 server with its Core Lib and Config Lib, then set item retrieval and Mekanism waste voiding.
Trash Cans, by SuperMartijn642, adds blocks that destroy what you feed them: an Item Trash Can, a Fluid Trash Can, an Energy Trash Can and an Ultimate Trash Can that handles all three. The mod is needed on the server and on every player's game.
Checked against Trash Cans 1.1.1 on NeoForge 1.21.1, October 2026.
Pick the server version
Trash Cans has builds for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt on many Minecraft versions, from 1.12.2 up to 26.3. The NeoForge 1.21 and 1.21.1 build is 1.1.1, uploaded on 25 September 2026. It asks for NeoForge 21.0.78 or newer and Minecraft 1.21 up to but not including 1.21.2. The newest builds for 1.21.5 and 26.3 are labelled 1.1.1a.
Open JAR Manager under More, set Server software to NeoForge and Minecraft version to 1.21.1, then press Apply change. Leave Take a backup first ticked, then press and hold Confirm & reinstall for 3 seconds. The panel picks Java 21 for you. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader has the full steps. If your server already runs Forge, Fabric or Quilt, use the matching build for your version instead. For a newer Minecraft version, pick that version here, and the Game version filter in the store follows it.
What it needs
Two library mods by the same author are required: SuperMartijn642's Core Lib (version 1.1.24 or newer, below 1.2.0) and SuperMartijn642's Config Lib (1.1.6 or newer). Mekanism is optional and only matters if you want to void its radioactive waste. On Fabric and Quilt the Fabric API is required too.
Install it
- Open Mods under Content. The Modrinth chip is selected by default, and the Game version filter starts on your server's version.
- Search for
Trash Cansand choose the one by SuperMartijn642. A resource pack named "Create Trash Cans" and others with similar names are different projects. - Press Install. When the "Needs 2 more add-ons" window appears, press Install all so both libraries come with it.
- Restart from the Console tab.
Open the Installed view afterwards. Trash Cans and both libraries should show with no Failed to load badge.
Players need it too
Each player installs Trash Cans and both libraries for the same loader and Minecraft version. Join a modded server from your launcher covers the player side, and Fix the mismatched mod channel list error explains the refusal when versions differ.
Using the trash cans
The Item and Fluid Trash Cans have filters set inside the block's screen, and each filter can be a whitelist or a blacklist. The Energy Trash Can has a transfer limit you set in its screen. The page says there is no limit on how much can be voided, and the last six deleted items can be retrieved after a mistake. Retrieval has a switch in the config.
Server settings
The jar defines two options, saved in trashcans-common.toml in the config folder. Stop the server before you edit it in the File Manager:
retrieveDeletedItemscontrols whether players can retrieve the last few deleted items from the trash can screen.allowVoidingNuclearWastelets the trash cans void Mekanism's radioactive fluids. The page says it is off by default.
Common problems
- The server stops at startup: open the Console. The mod file lists Core Lib and Config Lib as required, so check both are in the Installed view first. Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the log.
- The wrong file is installed: each Minecraft version has separate Fabric, Forge and NeoForge files. The store matches the Loader filter to your server, so leave it on.
- A player cannot join: check their game matches the Trash Cans version and libraries named under "Players need it too".
