Install The Wings of Alfheim on your server

The Wings of Alfheim adds nine kinds of fairy wings that let players fly in survival mode, plus a set of Mediocris tools. It is an old mod for Minecraft 1.7.10, listed on CurseForge under tadashi_3, so the server has to run Forge 1.7.10. It is needed on the server and on every player's game.

Pick the server version

The newest file on CurseForge is The Wings of Alfheim-1.7.10-30.jar, uploaded on 23 November 2015. It is about 300 KB and has no builds for other Minecraft versions. The jar's mod file asks for Forge 10.13.4.1448 or newer, and Forge's newest 1.7.10 build is 10.13.4.1614.

Open JAR Manager under More, set Server software to Forge and Minecraft version to 1.7.10, then press Apply change. Keep Take a backup first ticked, then press and hold Confirm & reinstall for 3 seconds. The panel runs Java 8 for versions this old and picks it for you. What it needs

The mod requires Baubles, version 1.0.1.10 or newer, which its jar states. Baubles is the accessory-slot mod by Azanor. Use the 1.7.10 file, because Baubles also has 1.12.2 builds that will not work here. Botania and Extra Utilities are optional and only change load order.

Install it

Both mods are CurseForge-only, and CurseForge tags both files with Minecraft 1.7.10 only, with no loader named. The store still lists both on a Forge 1.7.10 server, so you can install them from the Mods tab or upload the jars yourself.

1. Download Baubles-1.7.10-1.0.1.10.jar from the Baubles page on CurseForge and The Wings of Alfheim-1.7.10-30.jar from the mod's page on CurseForge, which is the one by tadashi_3. "The Wings of ALO" is a separate, unofficial project.
2. Open the File Manager, go into the mods folder and press Upload files, then upload both jars. Manage your server files covers uploading.
3. Restart from the Console tab.

To use the store instead of the upload, open Mods under Content, select the CurseForge chip, and search for Baubles and then The Wings of Alfheim. The Game version filter starts on your server's version, 1.7.10. Press Install on each result, then restart from the Console tab.

Open the Installed view afterwards. Both mods should show with no Failed to load badge.

Players need it too

Each player installs The Wings of Alfheim 30 and Baubles 1.0.1.10 in a Forge 1.7.10 game. Join a modded server from your launcher covers the player side, and Fix the mismatched mod channel list error explains the refusal when versions differ.

What you get

The wings are worn in a Baubles slot. The mod adds a Flight Core item, an Alfhomancy Table block, Fairy Ore that generates in the world, and Mediocris tools. The jar registers two keybindings for players, Switch Flight Type and Toggle Flight Hud, under a The Wings of Alfheim heading in the controls menu.

Using the wings

Wings do nothing until they are activated. The mod's own message reads "Your wings are not active!" and tells the player to right click an Alfhomancy Table, and the same table is where the wing type is changed. There are nine wing types: Eclypse, Celinette, Hesperia, Lylandor, Ivania, Infernata, Sanctus, Acnologia and Alanyr. The mod's chat messages name two flight types, Normal Flight and Free Flight, and Switch Flight Type is the key for changing flight type.

Server settings

After the first start the mod writes alfheimwings.cfg in config, and Baubles writes Baubles.cfg there too. The mod's file has one setting in an ores category, fairy_ore_per_chunk, described in the jar as how often Fairy Ore spawns, in approximate veins per chunk. Stop the server before you edit it in the File Manager. Raise the number if players cannot find the ore, or lower it to make it rarer.

Common problems

• The server stops at startup: open the Console. The mod file asks for Baubles 1.0.1.10 or newer and Forge 10.13.4.1448 or newer, so check both first. Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the log.
• The mod is missing from the store: the Game version filter follows your server. It exists only for 1.7.10.
• A player cannot join: check their game has Baubles and the mod, and runs Forge 1.7.10, as named under "Players need it too".
