Install Goblin Traders on your server

Install Goblin Traders 1.12.0 and its Framework library on a NeoForge 26.2 server from GitHub, then tune how often the goblin traders spawn.

Updated 4 min read

Goblin Traders is MrCrayfish's mod that adds two goblin traders to the world. According to the project's README, goblins live underground in caves and sell rare items you cannot normally get. In the NeoForge 26.2 jar, the Goblin Trader's rare trades include pottery sherds, armour trim templates and music discs. The official builds are published on CurseForge and as GitHub releases, not on Modrinth, so this guide installs them from GitHub with the Mods tab's wizard.

Checked against Goblin Traders 1.12.0 and Framework 0.13.26 on NeoForge 26.2, October 2026.

What you need

  • NeoForge 26.2. The newest release, v1.12.0+26.2, is built for Minecraft 26.2 on NeoForge and Fabric, and no 26.3 build existed at this check. Forge builds stop at Minecraft 1.21.1. The panel picks Java 25 for you on 26.x.
  • Framework 0.13.26 or newer. This is MrCrayfish's library, and the jar lists it as a required dependency on both sides.
  • On a Fabric server instead, use the fabric jars of both mods and also install Fabric API.
  • The same two jars on every player's game. Goblin Traders adds its own entities and a trade menu, and its jar lists Framework as required on both sides.

Switch the server to NeoForge 26.2

  1. Open JAR Manager, under More in the left rail.
  2. Set Server software to NeoForge and Minecraft version to 26.2, then press Apply change.
  3. Leave Take a backup first ticked, press and hold Confirm & reinstall, and wait for the console to finish.

Your world is kept, but configuration files may be reset. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader covers the switch in full.

Install Framework and Goblin Traders

The GitHub wizard does not read a dependency list, so you install the two jars one after the other.

  1. Open the Mods tab under Content and press GitHub. The window is titled Add a mod from GitHub.
  2. Type MrCrayfish/Framework, press Look up, then press Next.
  3. On the Release step choose 0.13.26+26.2 (the tag is v0.13.26+26.2) and press Next. On the File step choose framework-neoforge-0.13.26+26.2-signed.jar. The wizard may have another jar ticked already, so check it, then press Next.
  4. On Review, check that the file name is right and press Install. The window warns that nobody checks files on GitHub, which is fair, because these are the author's own releases.
  5. Repeat with MrCrayfish/GoblinTraders, the release 1.12.0+26.2 and the file goblintraders-neoforge-1.12.0+26.2-signed.jar.

You can also press the CurseForge chip and search for Goblin Traders and Framework. That route depends on CurseForge being switched on for the store.

Go to Console, press Start and accept the EULA prompt the first time.

See a trader

Once the server is running, join as an operator and spawn a trader next to you:

  • /summon goblintraders:goblin_trader
  • /summon goblintraders:vein_goblin_trader

The mod also adds a spawn egg for each trader. In normal play, a trader spawns near a random player.

Change how often they appear

After the first start, the mod writes config/goblintraders-entities.toml. Stop the server, open it in the File Manager, edit it and press Save. Each trader has its own block, goblinTrader and veinGoblinTrader. The mod's source defines these options:

  • traderSpawnChance is a chance out of one hundred, 25 by default.
  • spawnInterval is 12000 ticks and traderSpawnDelay and traderDespawnDelay are 24000 ticks.
  • traderMinSpawnLevel and traderMaxSpawnLevel default to -64 and 50 for the Goblin Trader, and 0 and 128 for the Vein Goblin Trader. The source flags both for a world restart.
  • restockDelay is 48000 ticks, and -1 turns restocking off.
  • canAttackBack is on by default, and preventDespawnIfNamed keeps a named trader from despawning.

Common problems

  • The server stops and names framework. Install the Framework jar and start again.
  • Nothing loads from a fabric jar. Use the neoforge file on a NeoForge server and the fabric file on Fabric.
  • Players cannot join. Their game needs the same loader, Minecraft version, Framework and Goblin Traders. Join a modded server from your launcher covers the player side.
  • Other load errors. Fix Minecraft mod and plugin load errors shows how to read the log.
