Set up Flan's Mod Reloaded on Minecraft

Install Flan's Mod: Reloaded 0.4.316 on a Forge 1.20.1 server with content packs, then limit bullet damage to blocks in flans-general.toml.

Updated 3 min read

Flan's Mod: Reloaded is the official continuation of Flan's Mod, a toolbox for guns, magazines, attachments and workbenches. The mod itself comes with no content, so you also install content packs, and the mod and the packs must be on the server and on every player's game.

Checked against Flan's Mod: Reloaded 0.4.316 on Forge 1.20.1, October 2026.

Pick the version

Reloaded is a separate rewrite from the old Flan's Mod. Its newest file, 0.4.316, was published on 4 March 2025 for Forge 1.20.1 and needs Forge 47.2.0 or newer. The project's README says Reloaded is for Minecraft 1.19.3 and later, while Flan's Mod: Legacy covers 1.12.2 and earlier and is kept in its own GitHub repository. Packs made for 1.12.2 or earlier do not work in Reloaded unless their author converts them with the mod's content tool. The mod does not run on Paper, Purpur or Fabric.

Install it

  1. Open JAR Manager under More. Choose Forge under Server software and 1.20.1 under Minecraft version, then press Apply change. The panel picks Java 17 for you. Switching reinstalls the server and keeps your world, so make a backup first in the Backups tab.
  2. Open Mods under Content and keep the Modrinth chip selected in the source chip row at the top of the tab. The Game version filter starts on your server's version. Search for Flan's Mod: Reloaded and press Install.
  3. Search for the content packs and install them the same way. The wiki's first-weapon tutorial uses Basic Parts and Vender's Game, which are separate Forge 1.20.1 projects with the version 0.4.316 builds.
  4. Restart from the Console tab.

Open the Installed view afterwards. Flan's Mod, Basic Parts and Vender's Game should all be listed with no Failed to load badge. Change your Minecraft version or mod loader has the full version steps.

Players need it too

Modrinth marks all three projects as required on both the client and the server. Each player installs the same files, including the content packs. Join a modded server from your launcher covers that side, and Fix the mismatched mod channel list error explains the refusal when versions differ.

Getting a first weapon

Basic Parts adds the Part Fabricator and the Bullet Fabricator, which the pack's page calls the key to making most things in it. Vender's Game adds three gun workbenches: the HitMarket Foldable Workstation, the PhanTek Fabrikator and Flint & Cobbleson's Handcrafting Station. The mod's wiki lists the guns and what each needs.

Settings

The mod writes flans-general.toml in the config folder. Stop the server and edit it in the File Manager. The wiki lists the options and their defaults:

  • allow_bullet_break_blocks, allow_bullet_create_explosions and allow_bullet_create_fire: all true by default. Set them to false on a build server.
  • allow_summon_npc: true by default, with summon_npc_min_distance at 400.0.
  • allow_gun_crafting and allow_part_crafting: both true.
  • global_damage_multiplier: 1.0 by default, and global_headshot_multiplier is 1.4.

Values set on the server are not sent to players. A rebalanced gun deals the new damage, but its tooltip still shows the original.

Common problems

  • The server stops at startup: read the last lines of the Console. The mod's metadata asks for Forge 47.2.0 or newer, so check your Forge version first. Fix mod and plugin errors on Minecraft covers reading the log.
  • There are no guns: the mod ships no content, so install at least one content pack.
  • Players blow up builds: turn off the first three options above, then restart.
